Never beat your dog.Aside from being cruel it is ineffective as a training tool. One method of teaching your dog not to dig is to drive a stake into the ground ,in the hole the dog has dug. Hook your dog to the stake for 10-15 mins. Each time the dog digs a hole, put the stake in the hole fasten the dog to the stake with a short lead for 10-15 mins.Eventually the dog will associate digging holes with confinement and stop digging.

A great way to stop digging, or at least redirect it, is to give it it's own digging spot. Either pick a corner that they are allowed to dig in and mark it off physically with a small rock wall, etc., or you could even get a little kiddie sandbox and fill it with dirt. Bury some toys or treats in it and show them the spot and encourage them to dig. When they find there are hidden treasures in it, they'll most likely only want to dig there. If you catch them digging somewhere else, simply tell them NO and place them in their special digging spot. Always praise like crazy when he digs in his little digging spot and he'll soon catch on.

My black lab as a kid was always digging next to the fence to get out. The only way we could get him to stop, was every time we saw a hole, filled it with rocks (the larger the better). Eventually he gave up digging along the fence.

don't beat her!! =( if she's an inside dog, supervise her, and if she starts to dig, then tell her sternly , while looking into her eyes, not to do that. If she's an outside dog,and she digs, show her what she did and lock her up in a kennel, for a little while

well, you could try giving her an area that is ok to dig in....one of our dogs was digging in my flower garden and driving me nuts so i made a little dog garden and planted chives and wheat grass in it...they are allowed to graze on the plants and when i bury dog bones in the dirt he gets his digging kicks. it was easy to train them to use the area since they don't get in trouble for being in it. If you don't have a yard big enough to allow them their own garden buy a kiddie pool and fill it with sand or dirt and bury a couple of dog chews......

Husky's are diggers and there is not much you can do but supervise and correct.
