If you want to go somewhere warm that you'll enjoy as much as the kids, there's a great place on Oahu about 30 minutes outside of Waikiki on the ocean.....the Marriott has a time share and a JW Marriott hotel at Ko Olina....the reason it's great for kids is that there are 4-5 huge lagoons with soft beeches, snorkling, paddle boats etc. and the lagoons are protected so there's no large waves crashing into the surf which makes it safe for young kids...kids absolutely love it there....they also have kid pools etc and it's relatively new so it's very clean....it really is geared towards families (the time share more so than than the hotel). While the hotel is pretty pricey, the Marriott runs promotions on the time share portion...you have to sit though an hour presentation but we went a few years ago and received a suite for 6 nights and a rental car all for $800...didn't buy the timeshare of course but they sent us another offer a few months ago so we're going back in March....If it sounds interesting give Marriott a call and see if you qualify for the special deal it's absolutely worth it.

Disney World - it has great adventures for both ages as would any cruise on Disney or Carnival or Princess lines. The wide ages can make it tricky for the standard park but the Disney World park in FL is terrific I took my 16 yr old nephew when my daughter was 5 and he had a blast and never left our sides. Good Luck!

Let the oldest take a friend and all of you go to a theme park. There's kiddie rides for the 5 year old and roller coasters for the oldest.
Water parks are loads of fun too.
