Yes, I dont agree a Peke this small should be bred! At one time it was considered a desirable trait but, with the increase of breathing and diabetes due to size reduction it is not recommended a dam under 9lbs be bred.

Yes, that is pretty much true! It is generally accepted, however, that Pekes below 6 pounds are sleeves. However, at below 7 pounds, I'd agree with you that it shouldn't be bred. Spay the baby and let it become a pampered pet. Pekes love to be pampered!

"Any Pekingese under 6 pounds is called a sleeve Pekingese. It is the smallest member of the Pekingese family, and the most popular size during the breeds development in China. To be a sleeve it must be 6 pounds (2.7 kg) or under, anything over that is not a considered a sleeve. In-between 6 and 8 (2.7-3.6 kg.) pounds is considered a Mini Pekingese."

You are correct. A pekingese under 7 pounds is a sleeve and absolutely should not be bred. A 7 pound male can be used at stud but a female that size should never be bred.
