Yes you can get pregnant if you have had unprotected sex and you are no longer on any type of birth control. She should have a urine or blood pregnancy test at her doctors. I was on Depo for four years, and I was able to get pregnant eight weeks after stopping the Depo shot. It depends on how fast her body got back to a normal routine.

well, no birth control is 100% effective. Most are about 99%, but that 1% is still a possibility that you can get pregnant. The only way to know you are pregnant for sure is to go to the doctor and have them do a pregnancy test. I took two home test when i was trying to find out if i was prego or not, and both were positive, but i didn't trust it, I still had a doctor do a test just to be sure. I now have a beautiful 6 and a half month old son.

Not quite sure what you're asking. If it is can the depo shot cause pregnancy, then the answer is no. That doesn't mean that in rare circumstances that your body may reject or possibly develop an immunity to it. In most cases if you want to become pregnant, and you're on the depo shot, you need to get off of it ASAP because it could take anywhere from six months to two years for your body to rid the depo from your system. I just had a baby and prior to that I was on the depo shot. Took me almost 2 years to conceive. Signs of pregnancy can be morning sickness (nausea, with or without vomiting, any time of day), frequent urination, tingling, tender or swollen breasts, darkening of areola (area around the nipple), elevation of tiny white bumps (glands) around nipple, blue and pink lines under skin on breasts or abdomen, food cravings, darkening of line from navel to pubis (linea nigra (faint brown line forms from belly button down). Hope this is helpful but also remind your friend that she still needs to protect herself. While depo does protect against pregnancy it does not against STD's.

So she was on Depo for one year and now is off it? Yes, it's possible for her to get pregnant. I recently went off it and my gynecologist said on average it takes a year for your body to return to normal and pregnancy to occur, but it can happen as soon as a few weeks after going off of the shot.
However, many pregnancy symptoms (i.e. nausea, tender breasts, headaches, etc.) are also common with women who just went off of the shot and occur as their bodies attempt a return to normalcy.
A good list of symptoms can be found here:
http://www.babycenter.com/pregnancy-symptoms
10. Tender, swollen breasts
9. Fatigue
8. Implantation bleeding
7. Nausea or vomiting
6. Increased sensitivity to odors
5. Abdominal bloating
4. Frequent urination
3. A missed period
2. Your basal body temperature stays high
1. The proof: A positive home pregnancy test
If the pregnancy test was negative, she might want to wait a week and try again. If it's not positive then, it's probably just side effects of going off Depo that are making her feel that way.
It can take months for your period to return, so I wouldn't recommend waiting for that as proof. And tell her she should be using some protection unless she's trying to have a baby!

being on depo means your body is tricked into being preg. so it is common to feel like you are. you can get off depo any time you want, just stop getting the shot. it might be years before you can concieve though. she is haveing the symptoms because of the shot. it works by tricking your body into thinking its pregnant so you dont ovulate and make a good egg. you even stop having a period just like being pregnant. not to worry.

If she was on it for a year, thats very rare. Most women lose their periods while on it, so you stop ovulating. It is a very effective birth control.
