Hey I have the same problem. My mom is a professional hair stylist and she can answer this question:
You can use hot curlurs or a hot curling iron (if you have one ) and use that....then spray with a good hair hold spray mildly...should work perfectly if you do it right!
Hope that helps!!

Get out of the shower and let your hair dry, and then twist is and tie it in a bun (when dry) and sleep like that overnight, open in the morning and viola, body and curls

well you could get it thinned out, and maybe try putting a body wave into it. that way it would have some wave to it making it easier to curl, yet at the same time wouldn't be super curly. but you will definately need to thin it out some to do anything with it.

umm
have it cut shorter and thinned out maybe
that way its easier to curl
get a product thats designed to encourage curls in your hair?
use curling tongs... and then spray with lots of strong hold hairspray?
wash it, and then plait it while its when at sleep with it like that?
hope that helps :) x

HAVE YOU TRIED A PERM? IF NOT YOU SHOULD BUT YOU WANNA LEAVE IT ON AS LONG AS YOU CAN CAUSE IT WILL MAKE THE CURLS LOOK MUCH BETTER AND MORE NATURAL

you should get it layered up and either get a body wave or use hot rollers. I used to use hot rollers all the time/ but you need some layers to give it some body
