Working on the assumption that all homework done is meant to be the best answer to each question, how else would you learn that you are mistaken? How else would you correct yourself so that you learn correctly? The most respect I have for teachers is when they go over the tests in class and you are allowed to present your theories on why you answered like you did and what is right or wrong with your thinking and if you misunderstood or have a valid answer for another reason, you may get the credit. But most important you can correct your thinking. My wonderful brother-in-law got through grade school without learning fractions, he was just marked wrong. Do you mean the teacher grading the papers or students grading one another's papers?

If you are talking about grading in general, are you asking if "credit" or "no credit" (or "pass" or "fail") is better than an actual letter grade?
