You aren't being passed over because you are black, you are being passed over because you are a temp. If they were to hire you full time then it would cost them a couple thousand in finders fees to the temp agency. I used to temp, so I have been passed over myself for that reason.

But yes, I have been discriminated against. When I worked at a Caldor's years ago there was a management position open that the area manager wanted to hire me for. The store manager hired a man who had been with the company for 3 weeks. It was well known that he was sexist.

Have you expressed an interest in the position? A friend of mine works for a temporary agency that hires out for temp/short term jobs. She said a lot of the folks don't want to work a full-time job. Maybe the people where you work think that about you. Anyhow, I would definitely let them know that I am interested in the job, ask what I need to do-fill out application, etc. If you aren't at least interviewed, I'd find out WHY. Good luck!

In my artwork surroundings, I do each so often sense that i'm living in a guy's international. My male boss has an outstanding determination for male workers, highly in in charge purposes. woman interns are regularly given secretarial projects, while male interns are often given resourceful projects with household projects. Assertive woman coworkers are often stated 'no longer to charm to close their position', while similar behaviour from male coworkers interior an same/decrease positions is lauded as assertivity. Open interest applications from females are often grew to develop into away today, while adult men are often invited to come back over for an interview, although in the experience that they do no longer have any skills or adventure interior the field. by some ability the boss in basic terms by no ability reports his 'intuitive popularity of means' in females. on the different hand, i have experienced helpful discrimination because of my gender too. even as i became at college, a feminist professor prepared a impressive internship for me, which i understand she wouldn't have performed for a guy. At a job interview with a woman, I wasn't requested about my capacities in multitasking (a call for for the area) 'because multitasking comes organic to females'.

All the damned time. More so these past 15 years or so. Usually it amounts to my not getting the job in the first place past the face-to-face interview. They see "on paper" that I went to MIT and Yale and are all gung-ho to hire me but the enthusiasm visibly dries up when they see the colour of my skin. All. The. Damed. Time. I'm starting to think that after I get my PhD for almost-free in France I'll head out to French Guyana to look for work there where at least most of the population is "mestizo" like me. Geez, AmeriKKKa.
