in terms of weight (1oz = 1/16th of a pound), there are 28.350 grams in an ounce. There is also the less common troy ounce (1 troy ounce = 1/12 of a troy pound) and in this case there are 31.103 grams in an ounce. The only real confusion comes in when you talk about an ounce as a measure of volume... then it all depends on the substance...

theres 7 grams in a quarter ounce so it should be 28 grams in an ounce.

there are different weights to different liquids defined as rthe specific gravity
so an ounce of beer should weigh 30 grams, but thats not true always
