My grandfather, a native American Indian, told me this story:
The missionaries came to convert the Indians to Christianity, and preached the gospels. They told the chiefs that anyone who did not believe the gospels would go to hell. One chief asked, "What of our ancestors, who never heard of your Jesus or your gospels. Do they go to hell"? The missionary responded that, no, people who died without the opportunity to hear about Jesus and the gospels were innocent, and would go to heaven. The chief replied, "Then why are you telling us"?

Because the later part of the story is not true. If you came to America from a country where they allowed you to kill people and you killed someone here, would you not be punished by American Law? Ignorance does not make you expempt of Gods law or justice. That is why many people find it hard to come to the faith of Christ. Becuase they would then have to except the fact that some people would not be in Heaven with them.
Do you think if the person that killed somebody said sorry judge I didn't know it was illegal here, no one told me, that he would not still be punished?
Edit: The Bible says ALL have fallen short and are in need of a savior. There is no doctine in the Bible that says, all people who don't hear the gospel are exempt from this rule. As a matter of fact God tells us to go and preach the gospel in all the world. Why would we need to do that if people were just assumed saved if they didn't know it. Don't be a foolish person. Turn your life toward Christ.

That's such an awesome point! The Bible actually teaches a resurrection of the dead will occur here on earth for all those who did not hear of Jesus, and for those who did not have a heavenly calling. I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and look forward to that future time that Jesus spoke of when the meek inherit the earth. Please talk to Jehovah's Witnesses so you can find out what the bible really teaches about death, heaven, and our future. I recently read the story of a Kickapoo Indian who became one of Jehovah's Witnesses and he preaches to fellow Native Americans about what the "Happy Hunting Ground" really is, and looks forward to the resurrection of many Indians of past generations so that he can teach them about God's purposes.

very actually, maximum christians have confidence they're going to bypass to heaven because of actuality they have been stored and all that yet thats no longer actually. if your a christian you will likely prefer to be residing a clean life no longer a life full of sin (no longer each and every physique is applicable anybody make blunders). Myself being a Christian have often circumstances puzzled am i leaving a clean life that God could admire. Rememeber because of actuality on an identical time as are stored or ask Jesus to return into your life your asking him to regulate you thoroughly and supply help to've a holy life, yet human beings even after this stay a undesirable life. So human beings could prefer to stand actuality and re-evalute their finished life and truly see the placement they are going.

That's a good point. And why all the emphasis on the afterlife? What about here and now? Seems like the eastern religions have a better thing going on.

As a person who beleives in God through his son, I would not take what another man, wether he calls himself christian or the second coming of Christ, says to heart. kirk cameron, for example, thinks that he can tell people they are going to hell if they do not do everything the bible staes. He is in for a big personal surprise, as most people like that are. We can use many preachers as an example of who not to listen to.

nobody is innocent it is how you live your life and not your religion, religion is just a guide, and when do you expect to god to come into play when neanderthal was around or when we are able to read and write
