A collar is fine! I have also seen MANY Yorkies on leashes. As long as you use a harness when they're on the leash, they're fine!
Collars for adornment are not an issue; just don't pull on it!
Make sure that you can slip 2 fingers btw the collar and your pup's neck!

Uh, you can put a leash on a yorkie, or any other small dog. The thing is training it so it won't pull on the leash.
Harnesses are better for dogs anyway, of any size. Because if/when they decide to pull on the leash, it won't choke them. They usually have a place for the tags, in the front on the chest, or on the back, where you attatch the leash.
Yes you can put a collar in the yorkie. As long as you dont' put it on so tight, you can't fit your fingers through it. If your really worried about it's trachea, then put a harness on it. Seeing how they're like, mini Mini-dogs, you can try getting a ferret harness. They're about the same size lol. I don't know if they make harnesses that small, they might, for puppies, but other then that I don't know if they do or not.
You need to have something on the dog, for it's tags. Yorkies are very wanted dogs by kids, and kids would more then likely steal it. And if it doesn't have a collar on it, then you probly won't ever find it.

With any dog, I would recommend a harness in addition to a collar. Yes...you can put a collar on a yorkie, but it should only be used for decoration or to hold its tags.
The harness is safer for leash use as it does not put any pressure on the animal's throat. The design of the harness allows for distribution of force which may prevent choking and a lower chance of slipping out than may be possible with only a collar.
Hope this helps.

Sure you can. Just don't make it too tight. As far as a leash goes, just buy a harness that goes around their front legs and the leash attaches at the shoulder blades. Then u can still use a leash for your pup.

I would suggest a Puppia harness. they are soft. I have one for my pug. So many people come up to me and ask where I got it. They are cute and stylish, but also good for your pet and its trachea.
Here is a link to an online shop that sells them.

I have the pink flowered Orion style for my pug. She wears a medium. Yours will probably need a small or x-small. I bought mine on eBay.

yes, just get a little collar & make sure its not too tight.
If you need to lead it anywhere, get a body harness.
