If you compare the book of Genesis with the Leviticus and Numbers, you will see that the ten commandments existed before the Flood and also the sacrificial system that was representative of what Jesus was to do. So if all those were the same, then you could argue that Noah was a Jew, and so were Adam and Eve. As you can imagine, most Christians do not want to see it that way.
I personally believe what Jesus said "Till heaven and earht pass, one jot or tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled" Matt. 5:18. Obviously, all has not been fulfilled. I believe this to mean that not only are the 10 commandments still in effect, but also the food that God said that we should not eat such as pork and shellfish.
Also, if you look at it from a scientific point of view, pigs are the garbage cans of the earth. They will eat anything and everything, even their own feces. The same with shellfish. They live on the bottom of the ocean and eat all the garbage that falls down there. So, when people eat these things, they in a sense eat all the garbage that that animal ate.

Yes, it is ok for Christians to eat "split hoofed" animals (Pork) and shellfish. These were laws of the Old Testament and these laws were not reiterated in the New Testament.
As for the new testament church, the gentiles that were part of it did and the Jews did not. Mostly because that is how they grew up. I know that there was a lot of controversy over this and most of it was resolved in Paul's letters to the new testament churches.

That is an Old Testament dietary law for Jews only. Christians can eat or drink anything they want. There is not dietary restrictions on Christians.

I think its absurd to not eat pork and shellfish. The reason that they were not supposed to eat pork and shellfish is because of the diseases they carry and at the time the bible was written it was unknown how to get rid of them. It was merely a warning against getting sick. We now know what the diseases are and how to prevent them so eat away.

1 Cor 10:25 Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience, For "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it." If some unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience.

After the flood, God told Noah that all moving things and greens were edible, but not to eat flesh off a living animal, and not to eat the blood.
Now referring to Moses' commands, he tells the Children of Israel, that they are not to eat these type of animals. So if you are Jewish, then no. Christian, then its OK.

In the new testament Paul had been told by a vision directly from God that after the death of Christ all food is ok.

You know I was asking myslef that very question today. Although the rule was given to the Jewish people, I am not sure it just stops at them. Are we not also the Lords Children? I am going to ask my pastor about this so I can get some biblical reference on it.

Evidently, JC demolished the law when he came. So no, Chrstians can eat whatever they want.
Jews however still adhere to the law because of what it says in the Torah: "no letter of the law shall be changed"

They use the excuse that it is an "old rule"
Apparently bible rules can and do expire.
---------------------------------
It doesn't say in the new testament that you CAN start eating pork and shellfish, no.
