Have you tried using a women's razor and shaving cream? A Gilette Venus razor and the Skinsations stuff works well. If you're using the same razor you use on your face for your legs, that might be contributing to the rash. You want to use a razor that's tailored for shaving legs!
Also, make sure you shave in the direction the hair is growing, not against it. So for your thighs, you would probably shave downward and to the side a little. Make sure you find a soothing lotion cream for afterward - don't use the alcohol-based stuff. It will irritate your skin.
I don't think Nair really works too well on guys' hair, so your only other option would probably be waxing - which works great, and you can do it much less often - it'll stay very smooth for weeks!
If you've been shaving, though, make sure you give your skin a chance to recover and that your hair has grown to at least ¼" long before going - otherwise the wax won't work too well. It's okay to wax yourself, but best to get it done by a salon/spa the first time - they'll give you more tips, too. And most people don't know this, but most salons and spas are very guy-friendly - guys just don't take as much advantage of those places as girls do.
Whatever you do, make sure you keep your legs moisturized at all times - put body lotion on after every shower and whenever else they feel dry. This helps keep your skin healthy and strong, and less susceptible to razor burn.

You could try Veet Hair Removal Lotion if you wanted to take a different route from shaving. You could have your legs waxed one time and then shave to maintain it - the hair would be less coarse. Are you using a shaving gel/cream for sensitive skin? You could try that, also. I don't know why people get up in arms about men shaving their legs. I hate leg hair on anyone, so props to you.

Ok, not talking fro experience here. But....
You mightbe best off going and finding this stuff that you put on your legs and leave it for like 10 minutes and then scrape it off with a piece of plastic. Don't leave it on longer than the instructions, I've seen the results of someone leaving it on for too long - Ouch!
I think it might be called Veet or Immac but I'm not totally sure. Wait around until someone who knows more about this stuff. Generally female lol.
Ps. It is marketed for women, not men

Facial/bigger lip/forehead - threading, lasts for roughly 4 weeks. from time to time tweeze the foreheadarea. Bikini line - I propose everlasting hair removing therapy, accessible at salons/dermatologists. do not ignore to trim the bush, too! i do unlike Veet. It does not get rid of deep sufficient, many times leaving black stubbles. won't be in a position to stand the painful and itchy ingrown hair brought about by shaving the two.

I'm gonna suggest a depilatory, like Nair. It's inexpensive, easy, and doesn't involve a huge commitment.
Waxing can be good, too, but on your thighs, it might end up being a big project! Also, for that size of area, it might get expensive.

Neet wouldn't hurt like waxing. If you have money you might try the laser hair removal done at certain Doctors offices.
