I am not from the area but I am in the dental field, so I would suggest that if you are unable to find a source through the child's Pediatric Doctor or your state College or University you might want to call some local Dentist or Oral Surgeons. You can even call the board of Dental Examiners in your state, they have the answers or can put you in touch with those who will. Any good local OS should know of who does the work at a lesser cost or even in some cases for free. Especially if the case is unique, Oral Surgeons may jump at the chance to do this case. Don't lose hope either, just because you don't have dental insurance doesn't mean that you can't get help. You can also check with your Church or other local Church groups, sometimes they have help available. The best thing to do is start calling and asking for help in finding an Oral Surgeon who may be interested in this case! Good luck, and I hope I was of some help in your search.

You say she is a student, how old? Why hasn't this problem been approached before? I still feel you can do some good with the suggestions I've made either college, dental board, Dentist, OS and local churches. If she is in need of surgery you could even get support in a larger venue by radio, local tv. I can't think of a single dentist or OS who would turn down advertising for a good cause. Hope I'm giving you some ideas to go with at least.

Here is a site, I haven't checked it but it sounded like it may be something you might be able to use.

Call the craniofacial team at a teaching hospital, and talk to the social worker about funding sources.

You may want to call around to different cosmetic surgeons and explain the situation and ask if they do any charity work.
Best of luck to you!
