I have received an offer via email from the UK, how can I find out if the sender a lawyer is reputable, and if the client he represents in a death benefits case really existed and where would I find a public notice of said client’s death? Does the UK have a public service that one may search for fradulent activities?

Its probably a scam, a lawyer would send something important like that on official headed paper and you would probably have to sign for it.
Sorry

So sorry, it was really me they were looking for.. Gotta be true, they sent me 43 notices yesterday...
Sorry, to be serious, this is a scam that's been going around forever, they're just trying to make it look honest...
Check the spelling, the grammar, etc, plus, if it were real, they'd have sent you registered, signature required snail mail, not an email.

This sounds like a classic 419 scam (aka Nigerian scam). Do not reply to this e-mail, and most certainly do not send this scammer any money.

Of course it's fake - 'Spam' is known as 'Junk eMail' for a reason ... I hope you didn't reply ?
