In some ways yes, in some ways no.

Superstition is the irrational belief that future events are influenced by specific behaviors, without having a causal relationship.

Religion is the adherence to codified beliefs and rituals that generally involve a faith in a spiritual nature and a study of inherited ancestral traditions, knowledge and wisdom related to understanding human life. The term "religion" refers to both the personal practices related to faith as well as to the larger shared systems of belief.

Stevie Ray Vaughan's Superstition is a good song ;)

An irrational belief that impels a person to avoid such situations for fear of harm. It began before the 16th century when the witch trials were being carried out. Basically people told these stupid tales of apparent witches talking to magpies and having black cats etc and this got carried on through the centuries and is still part of people's culture today.

Oh I think there is no difference other than tax free status to the organizations themselves. It's all a buch of hopping around on one foot while chanting please let me into heaven, I swear I won't pick my nose and wipe it under the pews again B.S. that people think will magically send their disembodied essence to a happy stupid place. The song however, is quite good.
