when someone goes into places like bars, clubs, strip clubs, pool halls, movie theaters where handguns are not permitted. is it ok to have your handgun holster tucked in your pants and showing? can you show people your concealed handgun license when they check for ID? can you make the holster visible, so that people know that you ussually carry a handgun with you everywhere but not here because it is not permitted in this certain area but you may have it close by outside?

Holsters are ok, but I wouldn't be foolish enough to openly display it. That's just advertising the fact that you have a pistol somewhere, and will cause nothing but trouble. After all, the idea of a CONCEALED weapon is one that no one knows you have. Might be a good idea for you to invest in a paddle holster; that way you can slip the whole thing - pistol and holster - off of your belt and secure it properly before you go into a bar.

I also wouldn't show my CWP license to anyone expect a police officer when he asks for it; same reason.

I think you may have missed out on the purpose behind carrying a concealed weapon. The purpose is to have the means to protect yourself only when absolutely necessary, not to show off or let people know that you're packing iron. You brag about that to the wrong person, and he's gonna try you, I guarantee it. When that happens, he's either gonna pull out his own (illegal) handgun and blow a hole in you before you can clear leather, or he's gonna take YOUR handgun from you and THEN blow a hole in you.

The normal places that prohibit the wearing of a concealed weapon are normally places of which either serve alcoholic beverages, a court house, or a federal building.

To wear just the holster in any of these places, especially a bar where some may be a bit more inebriated, you are only asking for problems.

The question you should be asking yourself is WHY would you care to bring attention to having a firearm normally!

I would suggest you be very knowledgable on the terms of when you can actually use the firearm so that you don't mistakenly get yourself into a position that is escalated only because you have the weapon in the first place. In other words....most shootings I've investigated, one brandishes a firearm, then the second does the same and before you know it...what COULD have been prevented with adult to adult talk...would have before ego's were slighted!

As an officer seeing what appears to be a weapon...you stand a far greater chance of becoming involved in a serious situation rather than doing what your license allows...carrying it CONCEALED.

I'm sure its legal but I'm also sure that most of what you mention will create more attention for you than its worth. If I happen to be carrying and need to go into the post office I simply un-holster the pistol and lock it in the glove compartment until I return. When wearing an IWB, (Inside the Waist Band) holster I just about have to take my pants down to get the holster off. So yes I carry th holster in but it is nothing more than a leather pouch. I do keep it concealed as I go about my business. To purposely expose it is stupid. Why on earth would you want to do that unless you are trying to off or intimidate someone? There is no real reason I think.

Why on earth would you want to do that? Trying to look studly because you have a license to carry concealed?

Can't be very studly because even I have a license to carry concealed! (Long story - not Rambo mom or anything like that I swear).

You can wear an empty holster anywhere you wish - but ya would look rather like a doofus trying to look "tuff" with an empty gun holder on. Then again - if you have a big enough holster you might be able to put a beer in it.

you don't tell us what is your state of residence---- and why go looking for trouble when you do not have to do so ..... you want to look tough or do you need to have two tools..... it is never prudent to invite this kind of attention and if you cannot just be low key about the gun carry permit then perhaps you need to re-think your own personality and mind-set about the gun-carry... it is fine with me that you have the carry-permit ... but you want to tip your hand and become a target -- the whole idea should be "concealed" and if needed you have the weapon on you .. if you display the empty case then you invite some one to follow and smash out your car window to rob the gun ____ try to be low key and do not display a loaded gun or an empty holster ... if you got the permit to be undercover then keep it that way ....---

You really are looking for attention aren't you?
Perhaps you could get a ton of facial piercings or tattoos instead.
The only guys who do stuff like this are the ones who probably have absolutely NO business carrying in the first place.
I hide my gun when I carry it because I don't want people to worry about my intentions. The only person who needs to see my weapon is the bozo who comes to rob the store and wants us all to kneel down in the milk cooler while he takes target practice on us.

It is not smart to carry an exposed holster where guns are prohibited, even with no gun in it. If you exercise judgment like this, you are going to get your CCW revoked in quick order. Wise up, before that happens.

It works like this, anyone has the right to bear arms (or is it bare?) in the US as long as there are no signs that say you cannot carry a firearm on this property. Places that serve alcohol, hospitals, police departments, courthouses, your car are such places were it is illegal to carry a firearm, concealed or out in the open. In short you are more than welcome to have your firearm on your person as long as its not armed in your car or there no signs posted prohibiting you from carrying it. However as soon as you see a sign that says no firearms, you cannot take it with you. As for foreigners bringing their opinions here, it is our constitutional right to have a firearm.

I would not like it at all if someone brought a gun into my home without telling me, especially if there were children there. I personally think that people who carry guns are planning on using them, and that is pretty scary. I mean what if someone says or does something you don't like? I hope you have a lot of self-control.

look at your question. they prohibit handguns. I'm pretty sure that even if you have one in a holster, you still have one.
