I would give him money. In fact, when my kids are with me and not their father and I have to work (I work a normal M-F 8-5 schedule) I often give my bf money to pay for lunches and stuff. He doesn't work out of the home but we live together and I cover all the bills anyway. I put some money into his account when I get paid anyway.
I don't think it is too much to ask. She is saving a ton of money not paying for Daycare.
Maybe bring up her putting them in Daycare so you can get a job so you have money. She may realize what she is saving and start giving you money without having to ask.

i'm in the same situation. only my girl dosent work either. shes on S.S.I. because she is bi-polar.I am also not working right now.She receives the checks in her name, but does nothing in the house. she is always either on-line, or asleep.[as she is right now!]everything that gets done in my home is done by me. she has 3 kids, ages, 10,12,+ 18. i am 41.I have been with her for 8 years now,but nothing ever changes. her new thing, is to give me some spending money, and then will take it out of my pockets while I sleep! she also says [ I owe her ] just for letting me stay here. the problem is that i really love her and the kids. all in all, i'd say to you,RUN WHILE YOU CAN! Dont let yourself get burried in a situation that you will have a hard time leaving. Most likely, if you are treated like this now, it wil NEVER change. Good Luck! from someone who knows.

There is nothing wrong with role reversal in any household. If she is working and you are the caregiver, make sure that you are doing regular household work too. (Laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning.) Remember that it works both ways. If you want her to be happy and keep working then you have to take over the stuff at home that she can't get to.
In that way, I don't see why she shouldn't hand you over some money when you needed it.
The question is who is in charge of the finances? She might have a financial problem that she is trying to save money for and that is why she is not giving you money.
Talk to her.

You are not the father of these children so I say yes you should get paid for your services. If you were not there she would have to pay to put them in daycare. She is out making money while you watch her kids,,,,,,,,hello. Go find yourself a job outside the home and tell her to start looking for a daycare as this job does not pay,,,,,enough. GL =)

Does she pay you for babysitting? If not then yeah she could give you some money from time to time. Not if it's insane amounts like thousands of dollars but like $30 for gas.
She needs to come to realize that what you're doing for her, you're doing cause you're nice. She could either give you some money when you need it for watching her kids or she could hire someone else that she doesn't trust as much to do it and pay them every time. Talk to her about it.

If you aren't working because you are too busy babysitting - then yeah - she should pay you or you should tell her to get a babysitter.
If you are doing it on your free time - she's your woman, stop asking for money and enjoy doing her a favor :-)

If I asked anyone to watch my kids so that I could work, I would offer them something, even if it weren't much.
You should never take advantage of a freindship.

absolutly, as long as I had it and it wasn't an outstanding amount that he was requesting.
Having him watch her kids is saving her a ton of money from putting them in daycare. She should be more thankful....

Depends if she paid you or how bad the kids were and it would depend on how much you wanted to borrow and for what.
