I had a happy, healthy little girl 3 weeks ago. My nurse said to wait a full six weeks before resuming intimate activities, but this is driving me crazy. I had an "easy" delivery (no drugs, no ripping, no stitches, ect) and my bleeding stopped almost a week ago. I feel great and am very eager to play again. Do you think that it is really crucial that I wait?

My wife and I had to wait. So for your health, wait, it is only 3 more weeks.

You don't need to wait for sure, but it would be best to wait. And it will probably still be painful, even though you had an easy delivery. Also, there could be a higher risk for infection before 6 weeks. But at a minimum I would wait 4 weeks and make sure that you do use protection, because you could start ovulating again at any time!

With my first I only waited 4 weeks (but it seemed like a year). Usually once your bleeding stops you are ok to go. Some times it takes almost 6 weeks for the bleeding to stop. Doctors like to play it safe. Call your nurse or doctor for peace of mind.

Sex after pregnancy can be painful, especially if you had stitches to repair tears or an episiotomy. BUT, Even if your perineum is intact, intercourse could hurt. You may need time to heal.
However, everyones body is different and if you feel like you are ready, just call your Doc or midwife and ask! Can't hurt! And kudos to you for being ready so soon!!!! Wish I could have been that lucky...Im sure my Husband does too!

I didnt even know you had to wait 6 weeks after giving birth to have sex!!!! With my first daughter we started again after 2 weeks ( I only bled for a week and had no tearing etc)
and with my second it was three weeks as I bled for two.
To be safe just ask your Dr. But if you feel ready then....... if it hurts or doesnt feel comfortable you will stop.

well it goes by how you feel try to ease into it don't be like when you left off, go slow at first to make sure it isn't going to hurt. if it does stop , i had my kids the same way no stitches and very easy so i know how you feel i personal didn't wait that long so just be careful. you will know what you can stand an how far to go.

You dont HAVE to wait. It's your choice and your body. However it is BEST that you do wait. And you might be suprised even though your delivery was easy doesn't mean that sex is going to be comfortable just yet. I know a lot of women who find sex uncomfortable even after the 6 weeks.

Wait the full time. Aaaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!! That drives me nuts, a professional in an occupation says to wait that period of time, not for their health or because they are trying to be mean, etc. They have stated that for your health. And you just can't wait to jump on the train, because it you don't you will explode or something like that. Listen to the professional. I hate when people don't listen, something bad happens and they run back to the hospital. In my opinion the hospital should have the right to refuse to do anything for them (based on the fact that the person not listening is a stupid moron).

Kudos to you for wanting to have sex so soon. I'm eight weeks postpatum and when my husband asked when were going to have sex again the other day I had to admit it hadn't even crossed my mind--it really hadn't!
