Best of luck Heidi. I have tried unsuccessfully many times but was told again yesterday by my doctor that I needed to quit again. There are many items available to purchase and some make false claims so be very careful. In my opinion, which is not medically proven or anything, the most successful method is to go cold turkey. Many of my friends have quit and majority did so by setting a date and attempting to quit on that date. Even if it doesn't work the first time they continue until they have beaten this addictive substance. Next Wednesday is weedless Wednesday and my fiance and I have set that date as one where we will attempt to do the same as your goal. Best of luck to you and I hope that you are able to kick this dirty habit.

This sounds silly but cut a straw in half and wrap some masking tape around the end (so it looks like a cig). When you want a cig, use this to "smoke" and also take everyone else's advice with the sugar free gum and candies. Good luck!

The facetious answer is don't light a cigarette!! But I gave up using the patches. I would recommend the 12 hour ones. The 24 hour ones made me have very vivid dreams, and I woke in the mornings feeling like I had lived another day!

There really isn't any easy way. When I quit I bought a big bag of
peppermint candy. I also kept busy to keep from thinking about it.
Took awhile but, it worked ( 4 months )

Believe in yourself. You can. No help is necessary from outside. Once you resort to something else to rid yourself of your addiction, your dependence on some addiction remains.
Live irrespective and independent of addictions. Your mental strength is its own reward.
Also, remember the date you quit smoking and brag to people about it. That way you would be shy to return to the habit.

why 6:00, hmmm...never heard a time set to quit...most people say they will quit tomm. meaning wake up and quit "cold turkey"...i heard the patch works well, or try to chew gum when you want a cig...good luck with quitting...you will be alot better off when you do...

then keep your hands busy doing something... also chew gum, sugar free certs, tic tacs, anything low calorie (so that you don't gain weight if you are worried about that) to have instead of a cig

Don't go cold turkey.....try the patch or the gum and tapper of that way. Or Hypnosis works!
