Are the ones doing the teasing a bunch of beanpoles?
Real women have curves.
I love hips, so I really don't have a good answer for you other than there are plenty of guys who'll take you just like God made you. And if the one's teasing you are your friends, maybe you should reconsider who your friends are.
Otherwise, any kind of aerobic excercise or pilates will do wonders.

You must be talking about your waist size.
Do any exercise really. Running and martial arts is my favorite. Swimming or biking is easier on the knees though. Make sure you stretch before and after. Don't stop until it hurts in places it shouldn't. Do it everyday. You won't see results until a few weeks after you are able to do the exercise at least for one hour straight 5 days a week.
Make sure you get a wide variety of vitamins and nutrients each day. Eat small meals throughout the day and only when you're hungry.
Crunches and sit-ups won't help, trust me on that one.

I always heard the perfect measurements were 36-24-36. If so, you are right where you should be with a hip measurement. Most men like some curves, If you lose that 36 inch hip area, you will lose the femine curves that many men find attractive.

There's no such thing as spot-reducing... you want to do cardiovascular exercise that gets your heart rate up to burn fat. At home, you can do aerobics tapes/dvds/tv shows, jump rope, run up/down stairs, cardio machine, etc. 45 mins 4-6 times a week.
If you can do some resistance training, resistance bands are good to use at home, or at least some squats and lunges, etc, that is one thing that can actually change the shape of your body rather than just make you smaller. So if you can, do both.

ok first of all if people tease you its cus they are jealous. i wouldnt be surprised if they were all women. secondly 36 is not not humongous, its a great size. and thirdly, you could try doing cardio to loose some weight if its fat thats the problem. but if its genetic you cant really do anything about. try to relize that curves are a natural thing for women, many dont have it because of imperfection and they wish they did. im a curvy girl too, and before i lost weight my butt and hips would call the attention of guys and girls, i thought "the thing" was to look skinny so i lost weight and now im trying to gain it cus i realize i was beautiful the way i was.

There is no exercise to reduce hip "in the home". If you manage to reduce it, it will remain reduced even when you are outside.
Joking apart, the fat in the hip of woman is the most difficult one to reduce. It is perhaps the last reserve of fat that will be used up at the time of breast-feeding your child. If you are really interested, you have to exercise really hard to reduce it.

36 hips can be good. What is your height weight and other measurements? If they are proportionate I wouldn't worry too much about it. Even if you have a so called "perfect body" it is always a good idea to exersize and watch what you eat.

i do 2 different types of leg exercises a day, trust me it keeps hips slim n top of legs in shape. lie on ur side, leaning on ur elbow. Bend ur legs slightly. keep you top half of the body stil and keep feet together. The leg on the top lift it up, but keeping feet touching eachother. You will feel a pull, do about 25 of these. Next lie on ur arm ( arm facing north, not by ur side) stay on the side, and place hand down by stomach for support. Lift leg up and to circular movements smaller to bigger. then change direction..then get to smaller ones again. Do about 20 of these circles bothways.
Help tone ur stomach by keeping stomach muscles tense with these exercises. Another one you can do if you dont get to tired, once again on ur side, lieing down. lift ur leg, up like ur riding a bike. Up to ur stomach, back to ur bum. back up to the stomach and kick out as straight as u can. do this about 10 times. After about 1 month you will feel a difference and see a difference, and after 3 months you will notice it more. Do this on average 3 or 4 times a week. If you need any more tips let me know! xxxx
