Why do you need a theme?? Shouldn't the natural beauty of the lake be enough?

no theme...just have fun...our wedding was the 5th of July out by a lake...we really had a blast getting ready for it...and planned everything in a week. Anyway, we bought a canopy type thing from walmart ($150 I think), borrowed some white chairs, and bought a simple metal arch and some flowers at Micheal's ($100 total for that)...set up the arch out really close to the lake, had the canopy set up for a little bit of shade for some of the older folks and had the chairs set up under the canopy...most of our guests just stood around the outside of the canopy and let the older folks sit down...then we had the reception up the hill in a small clubhouse that building...very simple and between dresses, cake, food, flowers, and decorations we spent just under $1000...GOOD LUCK!!!!

A themed wedding???? ohkaaaay. Have things in red white and blue to celebrate your country and your wedding. Maybe have a great fireworks display. Have food specialities from the different regions of the US, say alaskan salmon, texas steak, california sushi, buffalo chicken wings, southern pecan pie, midwestern apple pie, for example. Make your wedding cake look like something important to you in american history or cinema.

Have a town crier announce or mc at your wedding.

Play all types of music from 1900s ragtime to today's music at the reception.

Table decorations can be red, white and blue flowers with little us flags.

Hope that helps.

I was looking at the magazine Modern Bride, and they actually have a lakeside wedding with themes and all that jazz check it out. It's nice, they showed a green color theme with pale yellows and used birch tree branches and pines and stuff. It seemed beautiful. Good Luck and Best wishes!

I kinda think that a "theme" will make it tacky. . .no? Sounds like it will be a beautiful wedding during a great time of the year. I don't think you need one. . . Make you and your hubby to be the theme :-) That's all everyone will care about anyway.

Here are some ideas....

Hawaiian Luau....Pig Roast, tropical entrees, grass skirting on all the buffet tables..volcano cake

Margarita-ville.... tropical/casual food, margarita station with assorted margaritas, Jimmy Buffet and Reggae

Beach Party... everyone dresses casual (sandals, etc), clam bake or barbecue, beach balls and sand pails

Fireworks would also be very cool with any of the above

You don't need a theme. Just embrace the scenery and have some fresh flowers, candles and create a wonderful ambiance.
