Jesus was Jewish, and the Jewish men of the age had to be married before 18 or it was a hugh sin against God. He would have been granted no audience if he wasn't married. All the references in and out of the bible about Mary suggest that they were. What do you think?

In the time of Christ, it was a sin to be 18 + and be unmarried.

Ask any Rabbi.

that is what the book the DaVinci code was about. That not only was Jesus married to Mary Magdeline but that she also bore a daughter, Sarah, who was the child of Jesus.

i want to know why the idea of a married Jesus so upsets christains. He was human...the idea of the divinity of Jesus came later in the churches history.

I'm Jewsih, and you don't have to be married before you're 18. That's just the age that some say is appropriate for marriage. And the reason he didn't have an audience was because he originally wanted to start a new religion amognst Jews and no one was interested. But I have no idea if he was married. I read in the Da Vinci code that he was, but I found alot of information in that book that was a very misconstrued interpretation of things, so it's not entirely reliable.

There isn't one shred of evidence—not one—to support this idea. The "Davinci Code" is fiction—and that's exactly what this idea is: fiction.

Nowhere in the Bible (or in any other Christian writing after Jesus' ministry) is there any hint at all that Jesus was married. For example, His closest relatives and disciples came together at the cross as He was dying—but no wife is mentioned, as she would have been if He had been married. Jesus' sole concern then was for the welfare of His mother (see John 19:26-27).

This isn't to say that Jesus disapproved of marriage—not at all. In fact, His first miracle took place at a wedding, to which He had been invited with His mother and some of His disciples (see John 2:1-11). God gave marriage to us, and Jesus spoke often about the joys and responsibilities of marriage. Most of the earliest disciples were married, including Peter (whose mother-in-law was healed by Jesus—Mark 1:30).

Jesus came into the world for one reason: to die for our sins on the cross. Don't be misled by myths that might turn you away from that great truth. Instead, make sure of your commitment to Him, for "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree (cross), so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness" (1 Peter 2:24).

I think of it like this. I wasn't there. I don't know whether he was married or not. The bible doesn't say he was, and it doesn't say he wasn't. I don't quite understand why people get so worked up about it, as if it would have been a horrible, dirty, sinful thing for him TO be married. For those who get so upset about it...if they found DEFINITE proof that he WAS married--and even the POPE had to admit he was married, would it change how you feel about him? Would it shake your faith to the core? It shouldn't.

Let me guess. Another one bites the dust!

Please don't tell me you TOO fell for the Science fiction tale made up by the creator of The Da Vinci Code just to become a millionaire. That shows how big is the massive ignorance in this country.

Jesus was not married. Back up your statement with scripture. Jesus never married and was not on this earth for human design, but to save us and deliver us from our sins.

There are indications that, given his culture and his actions and the writings about his followers (including Mary), that He may have been married.

However, we have no evidence one way or the other. And it ultimately isn't that important to us.

It doesn't make a difference to me if he was married or not. It wouldn't have changed his mission for which he came on Earth.

Read Joachim Jeremias (German Biblical scholar). Celibacy was unusual, but not unheard-of for devoted religious scholars.
