I recently got braces and my ortho gave me a pamphlet that says I cannot drink hot drinks nor eat extremely cold things like ice cream. I have never heard this before. What could be the reason for this?

I never had a problem eating ice cream or drinking hot things or having hot food.

I did have a problem with caramel and popcorn kernels getting all mashes up in them. Stay away from those, its too much trouble.

scorching and bloodless meals make your tooth shift identical to warmness and bloodless do for atoms in an detail. Hot meals will make your tooth honestly unfold out and develop (just a bit) and this will disrupt the environment of your braces. Cold meals do the reverse and make the tooth crunch in combination (once more, just a bit). It's important for your smile that you just comply with the recommendation in that pamphlet

i had braces and was never told that. it should not be a problem. the only thing i was told to stay away from was sucking on lemons for a long period of time because of the metal braces. and of course popcorn, gum, and things like that. but gum isnt so bad if it is the sugarless gum. just make sure that you brush your teeth good and if you can floss.

Could it be because the braces will get really hot or really cold and bother you? If it doesnt bother you then I guess you have them. Dont chew on the ice tho' thats bad for your teeth!!
