God is not evil there is no evil in him, before taking scriptures and trying to trash the bible i think you need to read the whole thing and get the true meaning of the scriptures then you can have an opinion, ye do err not knowing the scriptures, mathew 22;29, and gods thoughts are so much higher than ours evwen as high as the sky is from the earth, how can YOU possibly judge or critisize GOd, who created you and spoke this world into existance! god has no sin in him, and i would be ashamed for even asking this question dont you know you wil lbe held accountable for everything you do and say in this life? god bless you i hope you come to realize the true meaning of GOd

If those are the two verses you are referring to, then I've got a "logical" defense...although, by your additional comments I don't think you're looking for a Christians interpretation of those verses but you're looking to take them out of context without knowing anything about Elijah or circumstance.
First of all, no where in the Bible does it say that God "created" evil. He created free will and the beginnings of evil can be traced to Adam and Eve's defiance in the Garden of Eden. God cannot lead someone to sin, it isn't in his nature. So as far as Isaiah 45:7, a Christian doesn't interpret "darkness" to mean evil. Isaiah 45:7 refers to Genesis 1:4-5 where is says:
"And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day."
"Then how about the killing of 'small children'" Well, you've gotta know about Elijah and the circumstance in which he came to give that curse and how curses are justified by God. The children were insulting him saying "Go up you baldhead, go up" which was insulting him as he was about to ascend to heaven as a new prophet(baldhead was an epithet for contempt in the East)and insulting to God b/c he was a His prophet. It was Elisha's character, as God's prophet, that they abused but he didn't utter the curse b/c of his own personal revenge. Instead, he said it as the mouth of divine justice to punish the dishonor done to God. His summons was immediately obeyed. For Elijah's curse to be carried out by God, he must be justified, for he did it by divine impulse. Had the curse come from any bad principle God would not have said Amen to it. The Lord must be glorified as a righteous God who hates sin, and will reckon for it.
I hope this helps understanding how we defend the Bible...you may not agree, but there it is.

True, it is a heated debate. But we have to look at when the bible was written. If you look at the history, religion was used as the primary means of keeping people in line. The fact that the christian bible has been rewritten so many times should be a red flag to their belief. But then there's the rub. It is their belief so they defend it without reason.

God is impossible of sin, and him allowing evil is not a sinful nature but an act necessary for the world to function. He is also a judge, and he is right to dispense justice. It is wrong for man to kill, and it is a sin why? Because he is playing God taking a life. Only God can kill. Therefore, it isn't a sin of God to do so. You are surely aware of Hegel and his works on the best possible world being this one as it is absolutely necessary to have both good and evil, as well as god to absolve interaction with the world for a period of time for the governing of the prince of the powers of the air. In the beginning, God was lonely. The only way he could be with those who love him is to set up the world exactly as planned and to give man free will. There is no free will if there is no choice between good or evil. Likewise, God hates evil, but he ALLOWS it for this purpose. He did not create it. Do remember that the Ten Commandments were not put into place for man to follow exactly but to show man how it is impossible to achieve salvation on his own merit as no man could ever follow them. I do not abide or follow any religion as it is man made or, indirectly, cloaked in light. I despise the religious. If this seems contradictory to you, I suggest you look further and spend more time on making travel arrangements for your final destination, at least to look into it to further your convictions that seem somewhat uninformed. It seems to me you spend more time on the Internet spewing out poorly crafted allegations and rebuttals instead of considering where you will spend eternity. Let it go in one ear and out; think of an insult. You don't have a problem with me. You are only a mouthpiece controlled by your own blindedness. BUT CHRISTIANS are blind, right? Well, I suggest some further study. If not, you'll surely hate yourself for it someday.

Nowhere does the Bible say that God created evil. He does take responsibility for evil just like a President says "the buck stops here."

God is Holy and did not create evil that would be Lucifer, and Yes God destroys those who are evil and their spawn. The bible is the truth that is why it is easy to defend. It sounds to me like you are misinterpreting the bible just like a lot of other people.

Isaiah 45:7 I create the light and make the darkness.
I send good times and bad times.
I, the Lord, am the one who does these things.
Doesn't look like any evil in there to me.
2 kings 2:23-24 Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. “Go away, baldy!” they chanted. “Go away, baldy!” 24 Elisha turned around and looked at them, and he cursed them in the name of the Lord. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of them.
I admit there is violence there, but it is based on human action. It doesn't say that the Lord cursed them, it says that Elisha cursed them using the Lord's name.
If you look around in the Bible as a WHOLE you might see the general redemptivity that is going on, EVEN IN THE OLD TESTAMENT. DON'T IGNORE IT, IT'S STILL GOOD!
And to answer your question on how christians can possibly defend the Bible? it's because we don't look for proof texts to prove it wrong, we read the entire thing and look at it as what it is, the GOOD NEWS of God's Grace.

You must understand concurrence (compatablism). God did create evil, but that in and of itself is not evil because of the intention that God had for it. Once incident has two intentions; man - who's intentions are only evil. and God - who's intentions are Good and Holy and Just.
God's intention for evil was just and Holy for His divine purpose and will to glorify Christ and Christ to glorify the Father.
A good example is when Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery. What did Joseph say about that SAME ACT?
20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant IT for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
Evil is used by God by his Good intentions, man is still held accountable because his intentions are wicked.
Please study compatablism to get a better understanding to this good question, my answer is VERY, VERY shallow and needs a book's worth to explain properly but it is answered.
Go to monergism.com to find good answers to this.
