Have a balanced diet!

You need to be eating a lot, all the time. The body needs protein to build muscle, but it can't store protein (unlike carbohydrates and fats.) If you are serious about gaining, you need to eat about six times a day, every few hours, making sure you get protein AND carbs, and some fat. That way you're feeding your body the protein it needs continually throughout the day.

A guideline to get you started on figuring out how many calories you need in a day is the Harris-Benedict formula:

Adult male: 66 + (6.3 x body weight in lbs.) + (12.9 x height in inches) - (6.8 x age in years)

I'm not sure of your height, so you'll need to figure this out. Once you get this number, add 500 calories a day to gain 1 lb a week or 1000 to gain 2 lbs a week. But it will take some time to see how you respond as everyone is going to be different. If you're gaining too much fat, then you need to eat less, not gaining, eat more.

Finally, you need to exercise - resistance train, several days a week. You want to keep your repetitions for each exercise at 8-12 to build, and do 3-5 sets of each exercise. When you reach the last rep of each set, you can tell if you've used the correct weight or not if you absolutely could not do one more rep with good form.

I would not do much cardio until you reach your goal as it would be counterproductive to your efforts.

That, in a nutshell, should do it for you.

Sounds like you have a high metabolism, which in turn burns everything you eat. Weight gain is achieved when the calories consumed outnumber the calories spent. Gaining weight for appearance's sake, or gaining both muscle and fat weight, should consist of a high-calorie diet in combination with regular exercise. Your nutrient needs depend on your own particular rate of metabolism, which may be very high at your age. You not only need calories but also protein, vitamins and minerals. The best way to get these nutrients is to choose a balanced, varied diet from among the different food groups. A varied selection from these groups should be the basis of your diet to which you then add fats, oils and sugars to add calories. Some other suggestions for gaining weight are to be sure to eat a good breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with nutritious snacks between meals. Try to eat in a relaxed atmosphere instead of on the run, as this improves the way your body uses nutrients. Avoid drinking too much liquid with your meal so you don't fill up too quickly. Make exercise a regular part of your healthy routine, but not to the extent that you skip meals and burn a high amount of calories. The body's metabolic rate is not normally modified unless there is an existing disorder that requires medical treatment. It is something that varies from one person to another and affected by many factors, such as age, sex, and amount of lean body mass (muscle). Although our information and opinions are nice to hear. You should consult with a physician to rule out any Metabolic disorders and or medical disorders. Good Luck!

I am the same i weighed 105 and now 3 1/2 months pregnant I weigh 111. Just be thankful, there are ALOT of people that would love to have your body. You probably have high metabolism. You can buy like weigh powder but it's not worth putting all that crap in you body. Other people here say have a balanced diet, well I have had a balanced diet for I don't know how long and it hasn't helped me. You can go to like a GNC place and talk to them if it's really a problem and they can get you some stuff that will help.

Good Luck

Like many people have already said, have a balanced diet and worry about eating 'healthy'. Other than that, I had this problem early on in my pregnancy. I was told I needed to gain weight, but I couldn't. The doctor's suggested eating more dairy and things like peanut butter. If you like cheese or butter - add extra to your foods. If you like veggie - add cheese or peanut butter (for celery especially) or veggie dips. Stay away from 'fat free' or 'diet' products even when trying to lose weight as these are hazardous to your health do to chemicals used in the process of making such foods.

Lots of protien and dairy are always good ways to build up weight, but don't neglect exercise and such things for your body needs to be in good shape or the weight will later cause you much trouble.

And to the person who said you can never be too thin - you're a moron - people die from anorexia and belimia nearly every day. Weight is a serious issue - from being over weight to under weight. But weight doesn't matter on age, it's more about hiegth and bone structure...

Anyway, good luck.

Hi, I'm 30 and I weigh 110 lbs. Sometimes if I'm lucky 115 at the most. I know how you feel. It's funny how you can't tell a complete stranger that they're fat but they can tell you how skinny you are. I've recently had to accept that this is the way I am. Don't let people get to you. It's stupid that everybody wants to be like us but they criticize us too. In the future you'll recognize it as a good thing. If you want to get people to shut up just say this with out snapping on them, "I can't help it." I wish I would of known this years ago cuz it works really well, even on family and friends.

First, go to a doctor and have medical conditions ruled out. Depending on where you live, you could have a tapeworm. Among other conditions that can prevent you from gaining weight would be an over active thyroid.

If your doctor rules out medical conditions, ask about a diet and exercise plan to assist you in gaining the weight in a healthy manor.

haha..lucky you. OK well oddly enough my suggestion is to exercise and eat a lot of protein; for example lean meats, fish, chicken, and veges. Dont just go on a junk food binge because adding 10 pounds of fat is worse than adding 10 pounds of muscle. by exercise i mean weigh training. That combined with the protein you eat should help you in gaining some muscle. Dont cut back on calories or take too many, just normally just at more protein to your diet and get into weight training.
good luck.

To gain weight, you have to stress your muscles, demanding them to grow. Weight-bearing exercise, lots of protein, six meals a day, and plently of rest should do it. Lift weights.

Funny how the nation is over weight and there are those that just can't put on a pound! If you've had a check up and know that your body is healthy, then I would go ahead with the weight training and exercise to bulk up.

Metabolism is working well. You need do nothing about it. With time and as you age, you will be putting on some weight whether you want to or not. Be grateful for it now, most people are wanting to loose weight.

All you need to worry about is being healthy. If your doctor gives you a clean bill of health, that is all that matters! I have been thin and short my whole life! I could care less! Just want good health and to be happy in life!
