Anti Semitic

Is the Jewish religion the only religion with a special word that describes hating them?

If so, why do they feel so victimized?

There are other races and prejudices out there in the world, not only the Jewish religion. Are there other races and prejudices which have a special word?

I know semitic refers to the origin of the language.

But the term is used specifically for Jews.

If a person says insults a Jewish person, it is called anti-semitism.

Other than 'racist' if a person insults a Christian, or a Muslum or an 'african-american' is there a word to describe the hate other than ANTI-SEMITISM.

I am not looking for words like WOP. I am looking for words which are the Equivilant to anti-semtism.

I think Jews mostly feel victimized because of the stereotypes that people push forward and that they have been made the scapegoats by many groups of people.

The term "anti-Semitism" was first used by Wilhelm Marr in 1880 (originally in German: Antisemitismus) as a euphemism for the German term Judenhass, or "Jew-hate".

Anti-Semitism means "against Semites" (Semites= nations of the Middle East, including Jews and Arabs), but the term was coined especially for the Jews; it is still used today as a term for Jew-hate only, and Arabs can be called Anti-Semites despite them being Semites too.

The term was coined by the German journalist Wilhelm Marr (who was a huge Anti-Semite himself) in order to replace the old term Judenhass (Jew-hate), and make the phenomenon sound better and more moral.
In the spirit of the rising nationalism in Germany, people could say "oh, I have nothing against the Jewish religion… you see, it's the damn Jews that I can't stand. They have these big Semitic noses and dark Semitic hair. They should go back to their Semitic land and leave our Aryan economy alone. I'm a damn proud Anti-Semite!".

Anti-Semitism does not refer to the Jewish religion; it refers to the ethnic origin of the Jews. Therefore the Jewish religion for itself ("Judaism") has no hate-word at all.

Anyway, here are some other hate-words:
Islamophobia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamophobia)
Anti-Christian prejudice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Christian)
Anti-Catholicism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Catholicism)
Anti-Protestantism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Protestantism)

The word Semite does not refer only to Jews, but when anti is put before it, it does refer to Jews.

Don't understand the thumbs down. The Semite thing is a fact, not my opinion. Several groups are all Semites, including Jews. And do you really think that when someone uses anti-semite they're referring to the other groups? Please. An anti-semite, whether it's technically a correct term or not, is anti-Jewish. Thumbs down for facts? Wow!

Firstly they are definately not the only ones as people from all religions have hate words of some sort for other religions. Imagine how many protestants and Catholics in Ireland have for each other. Secondly as you if Jews are the only people who have hate words for them and nobody else does don´t you think they have a right to feel victimized?

Infidel, Pagan, and a whole host that would get the post deleted. There are a set of words which tell the percentage of African-American-ness which date to the time when one eighth black was a cutoff point.

Jews have certainly been discriminated against but they are certainly not alone.

There are "special hate words" about other religions. There are slang negative words for Catholics, Muslims, Protestants, etc.

Do more research.
