Originally our image of God was female since it was the female who gave life so therefore the ultimate giver of life must be female. Then man discovered that he had something to do with a woman becoming pregnant. So the images of God (icons, pictures, statues etc.) immediately all became male and have remained so.

Most people think of god as a male. When the inventors of the bible wrote their stories, they didn't want (nor consider) a female god. They were also limited in their thinking seeing as how their god had to be assigned a gender either way.

Many theists nowadays are moving above that, they'd say it has no gender (but still refer to it as a "he").

sex organs are in nature, for the continuation of a species. I don't believe God is male nor female but the qualities that make us female or male in charachter exist in God.

The answer to the question about why God is referred to with masculine terms in the Bible really has only one answer: This is the way God has chosen to reveal Himself to us. God is never described with sexual characteristics in the Scriptures, but He does consistently describe Himself in the masculine gender. While He contains all the qualities of both male and female genders, He has chosen to present Himself with an emphasis on masculine qualities of fatherhood, protection, direction, strength, etc. Metaphors used to describe Him in the Bible include: King, Father, Judge, Husband, Master, and the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are those who would like to blur this emphasis in some of the newer Bible translations, but it is very dangerous to tamper with the way God has chosen to reveal Himself. He most certainly does not intend to minimize women, since men and women are revealed as made in His image and of equal value to Him. But it remains that He is Father, not Mother, and even in the Incarnation chose to come to us as a man, Jesus Christ. One famous Christian scholar, C. S. Lewis, has suggested that gender is far deeper than our human distinctions reveal. He suggests that God is so masculine that we all are feminine in relation to Him. If this is true, it might explain why the church is referred to as the bride of Christ, though it is composed of both men and women.

According to the Bible, God is Spirit, God is above all gender, God is not limited with a body like we do.

None of the above. God is represented in masculine terms because of headship and authority, but God is not male or female in the sense of us relating to sex and reproduction..

god is whatever religion you believe in, I personnally dont belive god is of any form but our creator in whatever form that may be. Most people would base a gender on what his or her religion tries to represent. Religion is based on a set of beliefs usually the strongest opinions in any religion is what it is motivated by, for example jews believe they are the one and only religion and the chosen people. well..... how convenient

God is not physical, hence, no need for gender. God is, however, often referred to as a King...and universally a King being male is a cultural bias.
