I'm starting to look into Global Warming a little bit more but I have some curious questions.

1.) If Global Warming IS our fault, then why was their an Ice Age (which I suppose is Global Cooling) before man even had the tools to pollute the air?

2.) Maybe it's just me not trusting scientists, but wasn't it only 20 years ago everybody was worried about Global Cooling?

It's good to see somebody actually thinking about global warming, and not just buying into the hysteria and propaganda because Al Gore told them to.

I encourage you to investigate global warming papers, while paying special attention to their scientific methods. In many of the "dire consequences" publications, you will find that they hand-picked data, applied sloppy statistical methods, and generated poor models. This, of course, is used to arrive at the conclusion at which they wanted to arrive, throwing scientific objectivity right out the window. After all, if global warming scientists disproved man-made global warming, they would be out of a job.

1. It's not our fault, it has been much warmer in the past and much cooler.

2. Yes, in the 70's they were concerned about global cooling. They said there was another ice age coming. I remember that they blamed pollution for that too. They said that all the pollution was darkening the skies and not as much sun was coming through so the earth was cooling off. It took many years to discover that they were mistaken and it was all just hype. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling So when someone says, "the sky is falling" don't believe everything you hear on either side of the issue. There are Spin Doctors galore out there.

As far as all the hype on warming, actually the temperature of the earth has increased less than 7/10 of 1 degree (C) from 1880 to 2005. That is an increase of about 1 degree (F) in 125 years. You may choose to believe that is global warming or you may not. Source: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. Some say that 1 degree is enough to impact the global climate, others say it's not. Most proponents of global warming think the earth's temperature has risen much more than that and don't even know that it has only risen by 1 degree. But the charts do not lie as do the proponents on both sides of this issue. The average temperature in the Antarctica is 109 degrees below zero. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctica#Climate It seems to me 108 below (one degree warmer) is still pretty cold and not enough to melt anything. But there are those that say it will.

Most of the time people will form an opinion and not really be informed about the subject with which they become so opinionated about. So it's best that you not form your opinions from other's opinions, (as in this forum) but on the facts presented. (Many do not provide any proof or links to prove their point, just their opinion.) With that said we do have a responsibility to do our part by doing whatever is within your power to keep our planet alive and well.

I hope that helps...

I'll try to answer this as best as i can. However, from my understanding global warming or global cooling are both factors that actually occur simultaneously. For the earth tilts on it axis and so does the sun during every season. and that tilt of the axis does a number on the chemical reactions that take place both above and on land. Thus even though one area experiences 'global warming' the other areas are experiencing 'global cooling'. For example, during the Ice Age although most of the Northern Hemisphere was experiencing heavy winters the Southern Hemisphere was experiencing heavy droughts. So it all depends on the Earth, Sun and Moon - or in other words the movement of celestial bodies.
Now, the involvement of pollution does affect a number of variables within the globe, and this is because in order for us to keep living and Breathing, the Earth must sustain a delicate balance in its compostion of the atmosphere, and the additives of these polllutants to the atmosphere destroys that balance. Thus in order to preserve that balance changes must be made on land and sea - such as the increase of sea level due to the mass melting of the polar ice caps. The increase of sea level would then cause an increase in evaporation [ when water heated by sun] and cause an increase in CO2 AND O2 into the atmosphere and percipitation would result........ However, again other factors are also changed due to degree in which the Earth tilts and other factors..... Just like playing dominoes. Sorry its too much to explain!!!!!

1) There have been plenty of natural changes. But climate scientists know all about those. Taking everything (like volcanoes) into consideration 99+% of climate scientists agree that man is now causing a climate change that is unnatural, rapid, and will be large enough to be really dangerous to our technology based society, with coastal cities and high tech agriculture.

2) 20 years ago was when CO2 emissions became large enough to start things happening. A few scientists warned about it back then, more and more saw the data show it starting to happen over time. Now the scientific community is agreed. Global warming from man will dominate climate change in the next 100 years, longer if we don't start to fix it soon. And make rich countries poor, and kill a lot of people by starvation in poor countries where agriculture is seriously damaged.

Nobody knows % of fault is man made GHG. Nobody knows if, without GHG, the Earth would be cooling.

What we know is global warming is real. We also know that GHG contributes to global warning. We also know that humankind produces GHG by fossil burning.

And we dont see any sign that could foresee a natural reduction of GHG or temperature.

While storms, we cann t change where wind blows to. But we MUST windsail if we want to survive on the ocean.

Do nothing means accept that humankind accepts its fate. We have defeated many deceases, we have defeted bad habits, we have conquered a peaceful way of life (broken sometimes, but just sometimes)

Maybe we will be defeated this time, maybe this will be our end. But, at least, let s do our best. Let s fight

Im in the same boat as you. I dont think i trust the scientist studies that much anymore. They change their theories like crazy. time is the only thing that will tell us what is happening. if the waters are rising drastically im gonna say its global warming if lots of boats start running in to icebergs near the equator im gonna go with some kinda Global cooling. But really both arnt all that good...:/

First of all, whether or not global warming is out fault is irrelevant. If the average temperature of earth changes significantly either way, then it will be hard for humans to survive at the current population. So it is something we have to be concerned about.
Also we know that green house emissions speed up global warming, so if we reduce these emissions we will have more time.

Global Cooling? I don't know anything about that, that I will have to reserach. But there have been 7 known ice ages in Earth's history. They move in cycles. We're due for a new one

Well if you Believe in Dinosaurs being wiped out by Meteors then the Meteor crashing into earth caused sulfur to go up into the air and Volcanoes to erupt from the sheer force of Impact which would've have caused more fires and earthquakes. But I really Noah's Flood is what killed off the Dinosaurs after all why wouldn't google Earth let you zoom in close enough to see if it's on top of Mt. Ararat in Turkey? there obviously trying to hide it from us.

in case you want to receive provide funds for climate analyze, do you imagine that you receives a cheque in case you assert," i want the provide, as i imagine that i'll coach that the figures that the present paradigm is depending upon are incorrect" ? the excellent environmentalist, David Bellamy, has been silenced, and refused airtime. there continues to be no shown causative link between the quantity of Co2 interior the ambience, and an develop in international temperatures.
