My cat has to take a half a pill twice a day, I've never had any p problems, Are the pills large? Get him(her) in a sitting position & put your hand on top of the cat's head, avoidind the lower jaw. Raise the head up until its nose points to the ceiling, use your other hand to hold the pill & pull down on the lower jaw pushing the pill as far back on the tongue as possible. Close the mouth firmly & rub his nose. This willforce your cat to lick its own nose which makes swallowing easier. Don't forget to give plenty of .praise each time your cat swallows a pill. The more quickly you perform the above steps, the better. If you can't get the pill down, try disguising it in something your cat loves, such as tuna or cream cheese. Check with your vet because some medications should not be given with food. Hope this helps my cat has been on her meds. for a few years and will have to take them for the rest of her life, She has epilitsey which theres no cure. She has become an expert on taking her pill, doesn't mind it at all even knows when I call her saying " come its time for your pill" seems silly but I guess its the sound of your vioce that she knows.Good Luck.

Its a nightmare isn't it. I had to wrap my cat in a towel and trap her under the toilet lid. Put the pill right at the back of the throat, clamp the mouth shut, rub the neck and hold until it swallows, then rub some more.

I think pet shops do a liquid wormer in which case you could get an empty syringe (obviously without the needl) from the vet and get it down that way

Here's a couple things that work for me:

1. Get a small syringe and fill it with water. Put the pill in the back of her mouth and follow with a gentle but steady squirt of water. It will force her to swallow... usually with the pill. :)

2. Try putting the crushed pill in a SMALL amount of cheese. I take a fingernail-sized piece of cheese, and mush it up in my hand (it gets soft after several squeezes), then roll it around in the crushed pill, kneading it till it is all well-mixed into the cheese. Might want to make sure your cat likes the cheese first though. :) But from my experience, even the pickiest cats will take it this way.

Good luck.

crush a pill and mash it into some tinned pilchards or sardines in tomato sauce. The taste is strong enough to disguise the taste of the tablet. You have to crush it to a poweder though between 2 spoons. She will be able to taste any little lumps otherwise.
Alternatively, when you get the worming pill from the vets, ask the to demonstrate how to worm her.
You ARE buying the pill from the vet aren't you? Hopefully yes since pet shop ones are more expensive, don't do the job and can even be dangerous.

Hi there...most cats tend to be clever enough to eat around their medication if it's mixed in food. Perhaps this may be of more help...here's an approximately 7 minute instructional video on how to pill a cat correctly by Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine for Feline Health: http://www.felinevideos.vet.cornell.edu/pill_or_capsule/full_movie.shtml

PetSmart (and maybe other pet stores as well) carry things called Pill Pockets. Basically a treat with a hollowed out area to hide pills in. If you can't find them, just get some regular moist treats and stick the pill inside.

Our one cat hates pills, she also knows if you have been tampering with her food! So we decided to buy cat milk (whiskas do a good one). Pour some on a little bowl, heat it in the microwave for a few seconds (because you have to keep it in the fridge) and then stir in the crushed tablet. She loves it. She even liked it with her liquid antibiotic which was bright pink!
Hope this helps :)

I had the same problem with my kitten you have never seen such a fuss, it's like I was trying to poison her!
I had all the usual advise, then Ibought some liquid stuff that has a dispenser included , squirt the amount required onto a spoon, dependiong on the weight of your cat, and offer it to the cat, mine lapped it up happily. I would never have believed it. It worked.

2 people maybe better for this idea ,this is what we do with our cat, wrap her up in a towel hold her mouth open throw the tablet down her throat then close her mouth till she swallows tickling her throat, watch it though just in case she hides the tablet under her tongue putting tablets in our cats food doesn't work cause she eats the food and leaves the tablet, and our cat is strong to.

You can get things that are a bit like syringes (but without needles!) from the vet or pet shop. I found they made things a lot easier. You put the pill in it and press the syringe and the pill goes so far down kitty can't get it back up.
