Did this help or make things worse?
I've heard that it makes things worse and it's dangerous, because the implants can burst.
Also I've heard that you have more pain with this than you do just living with the TMJ pain.

I just thought I might add a few things to fill you in.
I have had this for 5 months and this whole time my jaw has been locked.
I have gotten a retainer and my jaw was so bad that I was told by my dentist to wear it all the time.
Well I have and my jaw is still locked up.
I have pains every now and then and when I do it is painful.
My dentist told me that I will more than likely live with this my whole life. It really sucks, I'm just kinda wondering what the surgery would be like, I want to beable to chew normally again, and have no pain.

i would like to know too LoL... i am on muscle relaxers right now bcuz my jaw joints hurt so bad... my dentist is making me a "retainer" thingy to help with pulling my lower jaw back out ( my lower jaw is falling back cuz my tendons in my jaw are destroyed from grinding & clenching) i am thinking about the surgery too.

Having TMD surgery is really for majorly painful cases that are a person is unable to live without having the surgery. It is expensive and dangerous. I have TMD but it is minor enough that I wouldn't have surgery and I have been told by dentists not to have surgery. Don't have the surgery unless the pain is extremely bad or your jaw dislocates all the time.

I don't think hat TMJ syndrom is related to dizziness. I've had TMJS and did not have any dizziness. As for your mouth guard you can buy mouth guards at sporting goods stores for much less than a dentist can make one for. I used mine to stop grinding my teeth at night which really helped my TMJS. It was really cheap too.
