If they are totally blank, the first thing I'd suspect is that you just didn't have the film loaded correctly. I ALWAYS make sure that I see the sprockets engage the sprocket holes before I close the camera back. I ALWAYS tighten up the rewind crank just enough to take in the slack and then watch for it to turn as I advance and click off the first frame. After that, you know it's loaded correctly.

It could be the shutter, though. With no film in the camera, open the back and click of a few frames and simply watch and see if the shutter is opening appropriately. If it's not, you need a repair.

If there is nothing on the film at all, there is no reason to suspect the lens. If there is a very faint image in some spots, the lens might be stuck at maximum aperture, although I don't know if you could get a meter reading if this was the case. I think Spotmatics all stopped down to take the reading. But it just occurred to me that the little "flapper" that comes forward to smack the aperture pin might not be functioning, so when you do teh shutter test, set the camera to "B" or at least 1 second and watch the iris of the lens to see if it stops down appropriately.

The last thing I can think of is that you might not be reading the meter correctly, but even if that was the case, you would probably get SOMETHING somewhere on an entire roll of film.

Double check your loading procedure, though. After more than 40 years using a Spotmatic and its descendents, I still check myself this way every single time.
