I have a 10 year old daughter, and i would like to redecorate her room. It is a double bedroom, and i have no idea what colours to use on the walls???
her drawers are beech effect, so anything that will look good with those would help.!
( i really like the idea of: 2 walls one colour, and the other 2 another)
I don't want the colours too girly or adult, but would like it to last a number of years, after this is done!! please give me some ideas

What colors does she like? If she likes girly colors like pink, you could do a subdued version, or paint the walls a neutral color and decorate the bedding and other accents in her favorite colors so it's easy to change later. At 10, she must be developing some definite preferences about what she likes and after all it's her room.

By the way, when I was about her age, my mom redecorated my room and bought girly furniture and spent a lot of money on it, I hated it, but had to live with it until I moved out. By then, it was way too young for a teenager and not my taste anyway. So defintely try and take her preferences into account.

Am in the middle of redecorating my girls' room (age 9). Not into kids themes as before too long you have to redo them. I'm going plain colour on 2 walls and a contrast on the other, deeper richer base. (morgans paint store is good for this info) After paint is done we will create a feature of canvas paintings on the coloured wall, colous and shades that will make a statement without hitting you in the face. Am choosing a few shades so therefore accessories in the room are not limited to one colour.

go to home depot or lowe's or wherever you plan to buy your paints and bring her with you.....they have paint charts there. ask her which color she likes. once she chooses the color, then both of you start looking for the other color to match (to be used for the other two walls).

whatever color she chooses, i am sure there are contrasting shades or complimentary shades that you both can decide on together. this way, it becomes a mother-daughter project.

and it does not matter if it is too girlie or two adult. what makes the difference is not the color of the walls but all the accessories, beddings, wall decors, etc that can make a difference.

just remember, you can change a baby pink room with stuffed animals to a disney princess room and finally to a pop art room always with the same pink walls. all you have to do is change the curtains from a frilly one, to a princess one and finally to a darker pink vertical blinds....and change her beddings to a stripped green, pink and blue when she becomes a teenager.....
walls do not always have to be changed.

Depending on what colors your daughter likes, I would say use light colored pastels. Lowe's, Home Depot, True Value, and others sell a wide variety of border edgings that will compliment a wide variety of color schemes. Sponge art on the walls is pretty popular also. The above mentioned stores usually have free classes on decorating tips.

pale blue like the sky and a sand color. That would help the beach effect. you could even get some stensils for clouds on the blue, or just use a sea sponge. And on the sand color you could pant a fake beach fence, the one's that are white for keeping the sand at bay. Hope this helps

I recently started on my daughters room she is 14 and we are doing a pastel pink and cocoa brown...the pastel blue and cocoa brown go very nice together also...There are lots of accents you can purchase to go with these colors as well..Plus Fabric in matching colors for covered cork bulletin boards with ribbon and curtains, lampshades etc...Plus these are not wild colors that she'll grow out of to quickly and these colors are in fashion now...
You could also do 2 walls in one color say (pink) and the other 2 walls in say (cocoa brown) then accent the wall with the accent color with stripes or circles...Pink on cocoa brown ...cocoa brown on pink the possibilities are endless..
Good Luck.. and Happy Painting

And the different shade might desire to be something like a deep orange, which you will use for decor, like with pillows, candles, and so on. purely purchase one homestead decor mag and turn via the photographs. you will discover something you like. i won't be in a position to characterize colorings to you, because of the fact there are maximum of different "reds", and each physique will create a different atmosphere on your mattress room, so which you will desire to circulate to the paint branch in a ironmongery shop and inspect each and all of the opportunities.
