Aloe vera will soothe your skin, which you can buy in gel form or get from the plant.
If you have an aloe plant: Cut off a stalk. Trim off the pointy edges on each side or be careful to avoid them. Cut a slit down the center of the stalk and squeeze directly onto your skin.
If you don't have an aloe plant or they're too expensive: The gel in a bottle is less messy and less work. It's exactly the same stuff as the plant. However, some brands have a low percentage of lidocaine added to the gel, which really helps with pain relief. I got burned badly enough that I ached, so the aloe gel with lidocaine cooled the skin and numbed the pain.
Stay out of the sun in the meantime, and next time, don't forget to cover up and use sunscreen. Good luck!

Try 'swabbing down' with a cold, wet TEA BAG (orange or black pekoe) ... the 'tannins' in it will both help protect you from the DAMAGE you've done to your skin and also help heal it.
In the future, COVER YOURSELF FULLY and even then do not stay in the sun too long ... you can actually get a sunburn through most clothes.
I've had MALIGNANT MELANOMA (the WORST kind of skin cancer), my dear ... and the first one I had when I was just 21 years old, because I'd been out in the bright sun too long and got a really bad sunburn on my neck and back. I got a large mole at the base of my neck that didn't look or feel right, but I didn't know what to do about it. Finally I had to go to the hospital one day because I had a slight case of the flu and could stop throwing up. The doctor didn't care about my stomach, but he did care about my 'mole' and told me to come back to an appointment he'd made for me with an 'oncologist'/plastic surgeon. Because of that, I'm still alive and here 35 years later. I was 21, and now have the WORST scar at the base of my neck. Nowadays, the scars aren't nearly as bad ... but the 'Sunlight' you seem to love is getting 'WORSE' ... so DO NOT TAN (even in a 'booth' because they have some of the same 'cancer causing rays) and try to NEVER get another sunburn. YOU do NOT want to 'die of cancer' in the future so you need to start taking care of yourself NOW.

I have very fair skin and can burn in 20 minutes, I swear by Burt's Bees Rescue Ointment, it takes the sting out of sunburns faster then anything else I've tried and on the plus side it helps give you back some moisture that you lost from the burn, there's no icky residue to try to clean off. It's about $5 for a little tin of it. I think you can get it in Walmart and some Target stores carry it, I hope you feel better soon.

First spend half an hour in a cold bath to minimise cell damage. Then use natural yogurt all over and keep applying it every hour for a good 3 or 4 hours (more if need be!) and then use aloe vera for a few days as this helps the damage mend.

I've been burned so badly that I've had huge water blisters on my shoulders and back from being at the beach as a little girl. I'm fair skinned, freckled red head.....duh......youch!
Take vitamin e pills, they really help heal faster. Also aloe vera in the cooler helps (temporarily.) Hmmm...also just keep your mind off of it, go to a movie- the theaters are normally FREEZING and you'll be in a tank top loving it. =)

the pain of sunburn is caused by air passing over exposed nerve endings. Anything which protects the skin from this will ease the pain.
Try putting vaseline/petroleum gelly over the burned areas. it will be uncomfortable to apply but will offer instant relief

I once got bad sunburn in mexico and i lay on a marble floor to relieve it. But i have also used lemon juice, it draws the heat out of the burn and relieves it very well.
