I have great anxiety of speaking with others like friends, relatives and colleagues. I can't even tell a joke to a single person. I have tried many things like relaxation techniques learned from a psychiatrist, medication etc. can I be a normal person ever?

try talking to just one person at a time. not a group of people. dont worry there are a lot of us people in the world who could not tell a joke if my life depended on it.

if you dont want to try talking to just one person face to face, try over the phone of internet. hope this helps.

You have to first develop a sense of self where you are able to determine and define who you are, what you do, and what you are about. If you sit on the sidelines and watch life go by you will never accomplish this.

Find an activity that you really like or something that your are very well skilled in and master that area to the point where you have some degree of expertise. Keep working on what you are doing and as time goes on you will eventually meet people with similar interests and ideas. Starting a business is what helped me overcome this challenge and now when I go into social situations, my business is the basis of what I talk about. HOWEVER, I do not keep myself in the box to the point where I refuse to talk about anything else... so it also helps to keep up with events in the news and pop culture.

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life
