straightners aren't great for your hair but only if you dont look after your hair by using the correct heat defense products. my tips -

1.Invest in a good quality pair of straightners that are cermaic, its worth spending £50+ on a decent pair.

2. Buy a good heat defense spray, one of the best is the Toni & Guy one it comes in a silver bottle and smells yummy, another is the new Nicky Clarke red carpet range.
If you cant afford to spend a lot on products, Tresemme's heat protection spray works just as well, it also sprays more of a mist over your hair, rather than blotches of wetness.

3.Spray your hair before you blow dry and before you straighten...provides your hair with double the protection. Never ever ever ever ever use your straightners without using some form of heat protection

4. Once/twice a week use an intensive conditioner on your hair, Charles worthington also do one which can be left in (i use this every night)

5. Buy a decent shampoo, Fructis do a great one called Strength & Shine

6. Once a month if you can afford it, go to a salon and get a professional hair treatment and get your hair cut regularly

7. Dont hold the plates of the straightner in one place, glide them over your hair, but really only one/twice...if you buy a good pair of straightners you wont need to keep going over your hair.

8. Give your hair at least one days break from straightening

9. Dont brush your hair alot, obviously sometimes it needs brushing, but if you can help it minimise the amount you brush. and when you do brush..do it gently!

10. Get your hair cut regularly!

Hiya, straighteners aren't classed as 'bad' for your hair but they don't do your hair a lot of good. You need to buy some protecting products, many brands have protecting spray where you spray it on each section of your hair before straightening, and some have creme to brush through your wet hair. This protects your hair from burning, going dry and brittle. However, don't use repair and protect shampoo unless it's professional because it is know to dry out your hair - all thoise pomises companies make about having lovely soft hair after using their shampoo is rubbish. But as long as you use those protectors I told you about then it's fine and remember - straighteners also add a natural healthy shine.

Hope this helps you :) xx

they are bad for ur hair if u use them too much, the best thing when using straighteners, is plenty of heat protection sprayand lots of it, never straighten ur hair when wet or damp, that will cause damage to ur hair quicker than anything. also use serum after straightening ur hair, it will put back some of the nutients lost in straightening. Also have ur hair trimmed regularly, it'll help keep split ends at bay! oh and dont over straighten ur hair, only pass the same section of hair threw straightener twice at the most.

Of course they are bad, BUT are we going to quit using them NO. Therefore the best thing to do is go to an up-scale salon and ask them for a mist that will coat your hair before straightening it. They make these for this exact purpose. They work great and make the hair easier to straighten which means you wont go over the same section of hair over and over again. Also, try and buy a higher quality straightner. When it comes to those things, you get what you pay for. I would try the ones with Gold Plates. They work much better.

Yes, they certainly can damage your hair as they take out the moisture. First of all you should invest in a good ceramic pair. GHD are great and come in two size plates. Secondly, you should not use them unless you spray your hair with a protection. Again, GHD make one and also Tresemme, which is now available from supermarkets and shops. It will protect the hair against the high temperature and lock in the moisture preventing drying out and breaking.

straightening your hair CAN damage it.... i straighten mine every day and i have used lots of products on it and i recommend Charls Worthington Shine-On Serum it is not technically a protector but just put a pea-sized amount on your fingers, rub hands together and start underneath at the back work your way forward then go from back to front on top after straightening (it will just burn off if you do it before) plus the stuff isn't too dear it's great!

although straightening your hair with a flat iron might want to correctly be unfavorable there are some steps to help make it a lot less intense or stay away from further harm. case in factor you may get a more effective perfect hair straightener. a budget ones might want to artwork yet in case you may make investments in a more effective expensive one it would want to be somewhat well worth it for you. yet another tip, bypass to salon and ask in the experience that they have any sprays/creams which could stay away from harm even as straightening your hair. i exploit Aveada products. in basic terms spray this on your hair earlier employing the flat iron and it would want to save your hair as healthful as plausible. also, by no ability ever ever straighten your hair even as its moist. that is truly undesirable for it. As for making your hair strengthen swifter all i'll claim is make confident you decrease off the lifeless ends and perchance take those fish supplement pills. a chum of mine has been taking them and that i be conscious a huge difference in each thing, even the shininess of her hair. properly i desire this enables. I continuously concept pixie cuts were lovable yet i might want to appear as if i'm 5 with it considering i'm small ahahaha.

any heat is bad for the hair so use a heat protector on it. you can buy these in the supermarket or get a better quality one for a more expensive option from a salon. heat seal by paul mitchell is excellent and i also reccomend ghd heat ptotector but only use in small amounts.
also condition your hair every time you wash it and get a regular trim to avoid those split ends!!

Some straighteners are supposed to be good for your hair. Try chi or true ceramic pro you can buy them off of eBay for around 20-30 dollars. I have a true ceramic pro its supposed to lock in moisture and oils into your hair but you can always just use a straightening mist for your hair while you straight in it.

it depends how often you use them. if you batter your hair with them every day, then yes - theyre bad for your hair! BUT if you use them every other day, or less frequently and use the right products, they shouldnt damage your hair that much.
i recommend lee stafford poker straight products. they are at affordable prices, and help to keep your hair straight for longer while they protect.
my favourite is: lee stafford poker straight treatment: £5.99 - its a conditioning treatment to repair damage from straightners.
