One thing that turns me off to christianity is the insipid "contemporary christian music" schlop that they play in churches today. Embarassing.

I'd like to attend a service with cool music that is really inspiring. Who's got it?

Jewish services are primarily chanted and it can be amazing. A couple of thousand years of practice can do that for a liturgy.

Sufi music is really cool, maybe you'd fancy a go at that. ;-)

If you buy into the Jesus thing, real gospel is powerful stuff. Actually, it's powerful musicologically, even if you're not Christian. It's just that the lyrics can be a bit disconcerting if you believe differently.

You could always take your mp3 player to church...

Seriously though, that's a tough one. Depends on if you are only choosing between Christian denominations, or are willing to go off the beaten track. Personally, the tribal musical styles, chanting and flute music many pagan circles enjoy is my favourite.

And of course, Satanists have Death and Black Metal. No more need be said.

The answer to your question probably depends on the taste of music that people have. Some love contemporary Christian music. I prefer classical music, including the church music that J. S. Bach wrote.

Tibetan tantric chant by groups like "Gyuto Monks" is SLAMMIN'! I also listen to Native American music.
