What hurts the most?

In the song "What hurts the most" from Rascal Flatts, they sing:
"what hurts the most: is being so close, and having so much to say, and watching walk away.
And never knowing, what could have been, and not seing that loving you, that's what I was trying to do..."

In your opinion, what really hurts the most? I think that what hurts the most, is remembering the good times, knowing you can't have them again, regretting that you haven't show him/her how much you loved him/her, having to see him/her everyday, but not being able to come close again, to hold them... There is a lot of things that hurts so bad... but what really hurts the most? =(

What has hurt me the most in the past (in reference to what this song is about) is when you think you are in a secure relationship (whether it is true or not) and that person cheats on you.

I have been divorced already, and I got over it. I learned a lot, though. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. I strongly believe that.

Meeting up with a highschool friend 4 years later and then falling in love, well at least thats what I thought happened on his end. I made the mistake telling him that I loved him first, but then he did the same 3 days after I did. We were discussing kids and what the future holds for us...he even cried a couple of times telling me how happy he was. His ex called him and said that she MIGHT be prego, but isn't for sure. He tells me this and says that we should "take some time"...BUT HE JUST SAID HE LOVED ME! So this past week I was trying to give him some space and take my time, but being in limbo really sucks and it gives me no peace of mind. So yesterday I text him just to see how he was doing and he is "short" with me...he said he doesn't know what to say to me anymore. Did I actually do anything wrong in this situation? He ****** this up, not me! I want this so badly, but I guess only time will tell. This hurts the most, all I need now is some Vodka and Vicodin.

I love that song and can think of lots of times in my life when I felt that way, whether it was not letting someone know how I feel OR letting them know how I feel and them not feeling the same way. Somtimes people "blow" a relationship too by letting things move too fast. It never hurts to hold back a little and not appear desperate, but then if they walk away you feel like you should have said more....so who knows? Good question, though!

What hurts the most is being with someone for a long time and then suddenly it's as if they have fallen off the face of the earth. They don't answer your calls or your e-mails. No explaination as to why even though the last words they said to you were " I love you."

I think you have a good idea about it. I think what they are trying to say hurts the most though is losing someone that you were close to without having said how you feel about them and knowing that you now have no chance to get them back.

not feeling their arms around you when you need them the most or even hear their voice to tell you everything will be ok but i think what hurts the most is to know that they have their arms around someone else
