on the defense of them, i think its aggression based on the unrelenting condemning of the christians against them. they are always hearing "your going to hell for not believing" and other stuff like this. all you do by constantly telling them this is creating a hate within them.
many here though, like to aggrevate and argue. others like a clean intelligent debate, (however i find the intelligent debates quite rare here)

A) There is a huge difference between "faith" and "belief".
B) I've rarely seen another atheist "attack" a Christian, other than the occasional troll. What Christians call an "attack" is usually a challenge to the Christian belief, one which often goes unanswered. At that point, the Christian tends to impose a sort-of self-persecution to validate their own faith.
C) Why do we spend so much time here? Because it fascinates many of us that, at the dawn of the 21st century, people still feel the need to structure their entire lives around a fairy tale. If you met someone who built their entire life around stories of Zeus, or Spider-Man, or the Tooth Fairy, wouldn't you find yourself morbidly fascinated with it?
Think about it.

Its not the fact you have faith. Faith is a personal thing. Most Christians are not just happy with their faith being a personal item. Some Christians, not all, are out to validate their faith by trying to spread the word to other, but when people don't see eye to eye with those Christians ideas, they lay "you're going to hell" concept, which means you're not as good as me. When you project to other your people faith and use social stigma and judgement as a means to force people to believe in what you believe...there lies your threat.

Some atheists are anti-religious in addition to not believing in your God. True atheists don't care what you believe in so long as you leave them alone. An anti-religious person may see it as a requirement to tell you that you are wrong.
If there was an Atheist Category, would Christians post there? I believe that some would for the express purpose of picking a fight...just like the anti-religious people do here.

In the past few months, I've seen "Christians" posting that Atheists are evil, cannot possibly love, have morals, or have a good life. I've seen "Christians" post that we should all be deported, killed, or somehow have lesser rights in our own country. And this is not just once in a while. Who's attacking who, here?
Oh, and by the way, not believing in your God is not an attack.

I have never, ever shoved my beliefs into someone elses face.Plain and simple. I will talk about the subject with people who are open to discuss anything and explore the possibilities but are not set that there is only one possible answer. I have had countless experiences with christians who do not respond to a polite and respectful decline to talk about the subject...they go on and on and I always respond politely and respectfully and THEY get all hot an bothered and "wash their feet of me".
From my life experience I do not understand where you are coming from.

Well, when an ideology causes as much harm as 'religion' it is in the best-interest/s of ALL that it be discounted
and to 'de-program' as many people as possible from it's destructive force/s is the only SANE course of action.
IMO
One BIG problem are the 'self-fullfilling' "prophesies",....the purposful-destruction of the WORLD comes to mind,
seeing as the world MUST-BE in a terrible-state before the so-called 'return of christ',..many people are working to MAKE these things happen
in a mis-guided attempt to bring-about a prophesy/ies.
Religion does no harm. Does it?

"Faith is powerful enough to immunize people against all appeals to pity, to forgiveness, to decent human feelings.
It even immunizes them against fear, if they honestly believe that a martyr's death will send them straight to heaven.
What a weapon!
Religious faith deserves a chapter to itself in the annals of war technology, on an even footing with the longbow, the warhorse, the tank and the hydrogen bomb."
- Richard Dawkins, 'The Blind Watchmaker', endnotes to chapter 11 ("Blind faith can justify anything")

I'm not athiest. I'm agnostic. I do not deny the existence of god. I believe that it is impossible to know god. This is no faith.
You are right. Athiests are just as presumptuous as Christians.
The reason for the 'attack on Christianity or Christians' is due to the overwelming betrayal western society has experienced because of Christianity.

I'm not afraid of anybody or anything.
And it's not "faith" -- perhaps you should learn English. "Faith" means to believe in something without any rational evidence for it -- atheism is a LACK of belief, the complete opposite. We don't "believe" or have "faith" that there is no god, we acknowledge the fact that the only logical conclusion one can reach based on the evidence available is that there is no god. Why can christians only think in terms of their own irrational faith?
We spend time in the religion category in an attempt to bring some rationality, common sense, and intelligence to a country filled with superstitious people who want to legislate their myths and superstitions into law. We're a light in the darkness of ignorance and superstition. We value all humans, and so don't like to see them being led astray by manical religious leaders who only want to control their minds and take their money. We want to raise the level of intelligence of all humans so they can think rationally, and throw off the chains of superstition and control that have kept them hostages from knowledge for thousands of years.
And given the amount of influence and control these superstitions have in US government and policy, it's not "attack" -- it's defense.
Peace.

"Do you imagine that Atheists are fearful of an afterlife, and so secretly desire that there are not any further adventures than this one? " i'll in common words communicate for myself. this isn't the case for me. I even haven't any concern of lack of life or what takes position after. I also search for "further adventures" in this existence. "regardless of each thing, existence is a commonplace quantity" Sorry i do not accept as true with this both. you do not understand what's going to take position the following day. it truly is shy I stay for today no longer what's going to take position after i'm lifeless. "Does no individual in basic terms sail on with self esteem?" YUP that and the help and help of my acquaintances and relations. @Caitlin, you're incorrect, i'm no longer mendacity to myself or absolutely everyone else. do not anticipate that you'll project your fears onto others. Doing so is in basic terms conceited.

Aggression? No, more like boredom. Besides, we might enlighten somebody.
As for the fear of Christians, we do not except when you threaten to kill the muslims or homosexuals, or use up all the resources because the apocalypse is coming anyway, or kill all atheists because if we aren't with you, we must be satanic. However, you seem pretty scared of us as a group...
