I strongly believe that it does.No matter how difficult and hurtful the truth sometimes can be,it is always worth it.When you say the truth you have a clear consciousness and that is the key for your everyday harmony and psychological well being.

Trust me the Truth may hurt at times but nothing is better than speaking the truth.. And I do believe it sets u free eventually. Cause it is real.. its alot better then hearing a lie that will only keep you happy 4 a short while. I would always settle down for the truth no matter how painful it maybe. You need to be a strong person to accept the truth and speak the truth.

IN reality it does but mentally it doesn't in some ways.

Some examples are you think by telling the truth you lost someone special or something and you regret telling the truth and wish you told a lie so you can have it back.

In good ways, telling the truth you have obtained a friend or something special and you wont regret telling the truth.

In a balance of good and bad you both lost and gained people or things and equally wish you didn't tell the truth and glad you did.

Technically you haven't most of the time the truth set you free.

Always... Even though sometimes telling the truth comes with some terrible consequences, facing those consequences makes you a better person and makes you develop and grow. More importantly it allows you to move on. No consequence can be worse than living in a prison of lies that no one else can see, only you know you're in there and there are places you can't go and things you can't say because you're trapped withing a lie or several lies and you carry that with you, because you can't move on until the truth comes out... the worst part about living in that prison is that most of the time the truth comes out despite your efforts to keep it secret. It's just not worth it.

It depends how much you want to know. Sometimes i believe truth gets us in trouble, depress us once we know news about something or somebody, etc. I believe the less you know the better you sleep at night. Sure if you do want to say truth just to get it off your chest then you are more then welcome to do so, but in some cases you rather use friends shoulder, confession in church or even schrink. Some people have a need to say their truth hoping it is not going to ruin their lives and unfortunately if it is painful truth then the life most likely is ruined, well at least with that person who the truth was meant to be told to. Example: Girl cheated on her boyfriend and it kills her because she loves her man but at the same time she have a guilt trip. She decided to tell him just so she can clear her conscience and guess what he is goon now. In her case if she needed to talk to someone just to talk about her mess up she could of told her friend, priest or doc; there was no need to say it to your loved one (even though we all would like to be told these things so we are not the stupid ones in a whole situation). Yea thuth set her free.....and him too...lol

The truth can really hurt, but it can also benefit you. I try to be as honest as possible. Even if it hurts some one. But there is some times that needs a lie to protect some one. It just depends on the situation.

YES, the longer you hold on to a lie the worst you will feel and most of the time you have to tell another lie to cover for the first one so it could end up a never ending cycle so tell the truth and you will feel truly free.

Best of luck
