It seems like dissent is not tolerated in heaven, and he has established a huge cult of personality to where everything is his will. Isn't an eternity burning in hell worse than the concentration camps of the Nazis or the gulags of the Soviets? So in effect aren't the people in hell oppressed, and does this make the people in heaven collaborators?

What's more tyrannical than setting up rules and dishing out punishment (which is eteranal) with no room for debate. Merciful, I think not.

All dictatorships have free willed people. They just suffer the consequences.

God, according to organized religion, would definitely be a dictator. A dictator tells you what you can and cannot do, and you have no say in the matter. If he finds out that you are disobeying his laws, you are punished. We don't have a system like that in America. In this country, we choose our laws. We decide what to do, and what not to do. We would be under a dictatorship if we were told what to do, were not included in the decision making process, and were furthermore punished horribly when we lived our lives as we saw fit. Free-will means nothing if when you exercise it, you are punished. How free is that?

I personally feel that God is Love and Peace, and that the bigger an organized religion gets they turn it into a dictator feeling. God is forgiving of all we do as long as we mean it when we ask, God teaches us if we open our eyes to see, and it is other people that clog things up. It is only when we turn our backs to God that we are cast out, God doesn't just throw us in the trash because we are bad. Which is why parents are biggest examples we can have, they teach us the unconditional love, punish us when we do bad, and show us the right path. We are all made different for a purpose, and God made us that way for a reason.

Well if you read the old testament God is a jelous rascist petty bully etc.Anything that forces you to believe at the threat of pain and torture can´t be admired. As you say dissent is not tolerated because it would pave the way to thought and questions concerning religion and this would lead to a drop off of belief in something that very probably doesnt exist anyway. As to hell the idea of your worst nightmares if you don´t follow what some antiquated book or some bogus preachers say oppresses people in hell well theoretically yes but it oppresses people much more on earth.

You confuse the true God with the false gods of communism.

God provides out of supernatural abundance, for both the spiritual and the physical needs of his children.

Those who consign themselves to hell do so of their own free will. They just don't have a chance to change their minds after a certain deadline.

But all the rules are layed out for everyone equally, and in advance.

Plus, God is a fair and just judge.

As for dissidence, God is absolute truth. There's no dissedence about him. If there was, it would be a lie.

Sin is what's not tolerated in heaven.

No, dictators demand people do things they want and punish them for not doing so. God doesn't do anything as it's imaginary. If it were real, you can tell that people do things against god(s) everyday but may or may not receive punishment. Seeing that there are 4200 religions worldwide, we're probably all breaking some rule daily!

Hey! Cant tell someone that does not believe in god to not quote the bible because it was made by man...then that should apply to all. I am getting tired of going into a question and only see quotes as the answer. People do need to learn to argue for themselvs and not use the bible as cover.

God is not the dictator, organized religion is. So is our lying government here in America. Up with the rich, down with the poor. Throw out your senseless, rediculously, political bible, clear your mind of what youve been told, and talk to God.

God is a fictional being created by those in power to control those beneath them. It is a concept used by the churches to keep their congregations scared and obedient; it is also a concept all too often used by parents to terrify and control their children. Start your own revolution today! Overthrow the dictator by renouncing your belief in primitive, irrational superstitions. Use the power of your intellect to distinguish what is real and based on credible documentation and/or evidence from what is fictional and/or false. No one needs to be slave to a false god when all gods are, in fact, false. THINK.

Certainly fits the definition of a dictator, doesn't he? You're not even supposed to question his motives when something terrible happens, because he has a plan and "God works in mysterious ways".

No, God is more like a perfect king. He is firm in enforcing the laws He has created, but He is also merciful in forgiving us when we are disobedient. But, that forgiveness is only available in the method he prescribed. That method is faith in Jesus Christ. A stated belief that Jesus is the Son of God, sent to pay for the sins of anyone in the world, and that God raised Him from the dead on the third day after His death on the cross.
