I had allergy shots for nine years. It took two years before they started working and three more years after that before I had the full benefit. Allergy shots take a long term commitment, but they are worth it. I was allergic to smell of skunk, most pollens, some molds and raw fruits and vegetables. I am no longer housebound when the pollen count is high. If I smell a skunk, it does not burn and I do not break out in hives. I can actually eat salad and watermelon. It has been five years since I discontinued the shots and I still have the benefits.

I had terrible allergies all my life to just about anything living...grass, pollen, trees, mold, leaves, dogs, cats, anything with fur and even a lot of foods. I had taken every allergy medicine made, prescription and over the counter and either experienced bad side effects or became immune to them. Finally at age 27 I decided to give allergy shots a try.
The entire treatment took three years. Initially I felt no relief. After about eight months I noticed I wasn't sneezing as often and after 18 months the difference was amazing. I still say it is the best thing I've ever done. (Most people who are dissatisfied with allergy shots are not patient enough to complete the treatment or expect immediate relief.)
It's been 11 years since I finished my shots. Although very, very slight symptoms have returned (my eyes get itchy for a week or so in the spring) I am still doing great.
I know the shots can be time consuming and you don't get immediate relief, but in the long run, it is well worth the effort. Good luck!

I had allergy test years back. All came out. I am allergic to Aspirin, pollen, sinus, and so on. Big time.
I went for allergy shots for a few times. However, it is a continuous process. I was told that I had to keep going until I got immune system for those things I am allergic to. Basically, they are not working for me. I mean, it is not a guarantee thing. You just have to keep getting shots. It may be waste of money or time.
I would suggest that you keep a good diet, exercise and take multivitamin and that will also build up immune system as well. Getting shots seem to be a quick way out, but it is not

I have sinus problems and allergies. My allergies are from grasses, weeds, trees, pollens, etc. I tried allergy shots for exactly a year without success. They doctor said to me if I'm not feeling better in a year then the shots weren't for me. Although, I met several people at the doctors office who felt much better taking the shots.

I used to but then I stopped. It just got annoying after a while. And it takes a while to kick in through the years. I havent finished but the months that I did take them helped alot! But my allegies are really seasonal anyways.
