I have never done anything like this before. I just need ideas on what to do and what kind of things to get for the shower. Nothing too expensive!! She is gonna have several more showers. This one is just from the girls at work!

Work Shower - piece of cake! (or buy a cake!).

Order a cake

go to the dollar store and buy white paper tablecloth(s), streamers and a honeycomb bell centerpiece (I usuall get 3 because I like to buy things in threes...). get 3 white gift bags and tissue paper also (sometimes they have that wedding tissue paper and it's cute). Pick up plates, napkins, plasticware and cups in her wedding colors. Get a bag of those plastic wedding rings and use them for napkin rings (they will hold the smaller cocktail napkins nicely)

send out email invitations with registry information & ask for 3 volunteers to bring a prize (for which you will have the gift bags and state this in the email so they know the prize should fit in a gift bag). If you want, you could state that anyone who does not have time to shop can bring money to you by a certain date and you will buy the biggest gift you can off the registry with the money collected - or just give the bride the cash (it's always appreciated when one is getting married and rude to ask for). If you don't have a punch bowl, ask if anyone has one they can loan. Ask for two people to help you set it up the day of.

Decide on your games. For a work shower, it's nice to keep it short because you are usually doing this on your lunch hour or right after work. I like to do the marking of a cup or napkin. Take a sharpie and put a heart on the bottom of a beverage cup or put some cut up paper (confetti) in a napkin before you slide the ring on it. That's one quick game. Another fun game is to do the tissue paper bride if you have a larger group. You need at least 10 guests to do this game. For every 5 guests make out slips that say B1, V1, F1, D1, D1 (increase the number each set you make - your next set will be B2, V2, F2, D2, D2). Get a large pack of white tissue paper (dollar store) for each set you have. Throw all the slips in a cup, shake well and have people draw. B is the bride, V is the veil, F is the flowers and D is the dress. Give everyone 10 minutes to make their bride's dress and accessories (they make which item they drew - no tape, only tissue paper); have the real bride decide the winning bride. If you have a smaller group, just do bridal shower bingo with the other two gifts. Draw up blank bingo cards (It's nice to put the bride's name across the top and the groom's name down the side or her new last name - don't worry about it being square). Have the guests write in everything they think the bride might get at her shower (they'll get one because they know what they brought). As she opens the gifts have them cross out the box that held that item. First two people to get a bingo get a prize. If no one bingos, draw two names out of the guest cup.

The night before, get your supplies together: punch bowl (or call to remind the loaner), a cake serving set (knife & server), ice cream scoop, games (supplies), your items you bought from the dollar store and wrap your gift.

The day of, get a two litre of sprite, 12oz can of frozen lemonade, a 12oz can of frozen cranberry juice (this will make punch for 8 people; if more than that will be there, double and triple as needed); ice cream, mints, nuts and helium balloons in white and silver the day of (just get like a dozen and tie three to the brides chair and let the other 9 float around - if you've got a bigger space, get more). From the office, grab up the pens you'll need, 3 pair of scissors, some tape and make copies of your games.

Set it up - get your volunteers. set up the tables first, have one make the punch and cut the slips for the guest cup (I like to make these the size of a post-it note and have guests write advise for the bride and groom and put their name on it - pass these out after everyone arrives). You and the other one do the streamers, balloons, honeycomb decorations and the bride's chair. Get everything set out and have a blast!

Good luck!!!

Fun! You could always all meet after work at a local restaurant, like maybe Apple-bees', on a week night, or Saturday Lunch, have a few small centerpiece items, maybe ask if you can bring in a few balloons, or if they will blow up their balloons in her colors to add a little to it, and all have a appetizer fest, while discussing the fun's of the wedding. You could play an easy game, like who knows the bride the best-10 questions about the bride, whoever gets the most right wins a prize, something silly usually. Make it casual yet planned, otherwise if you want to throw something at work, just decide on finger foods or a pot luck, and have cake. It really depends on how much you want to be responsible for. The restaurant idea, everyone may throw in for food, the pot luck everyone can bring something. which is more the bride's style?
Oh, and something that the people i work with did was, they all went together on gifts for my shower, it was great. maybe ask the bride ahead of time if there is anything she is having trouble with, like the flowers, if so you could do the centerpiece of all different flowers.
Good Luck, my shower was thrown by my best friend, who is extremely creative.

I have attended quite a few bridal showers at work. Hopefully your employer will allow you to use the break room or a conference room to throw your shindig.

The best, especially at work is to keep it simple. We've always used platters (veggie, cold cuts, etc.) and a sheet cake from the local supermarket. Or, throw a pot-luck luncheon and have everyone bring in a dish. Like you said, she is going to have several more, so just the thought of a get-together at work will be sure to make her happy.

Make sure you can get a hold of the information on where she is registered, and you can do 1 of 2 things...either take up a collection and try to get her one big thing off of her registry, or just let everyone bring in their own little gift. Remember that even if you take up the collection not necessarily everyone will participate.

Keep decorations to a minimum (especially if you are having this at work), remember you will have to take the time to clean it up! Make sure you have plenty of plates, cups, utensils, napkins for everyone and extra trash bags for food stuff and wrapping paper. Make sure you have food, drink and dessert and you should be all set!

If it's just for a small group, you can have it at someone's house--preferably not the bride-to-be's. (You can use evites if you want to save cash on invitations.) If you want to save money, make it a potluck thing where everybody brings some food or drinks. Then you can play games with the guests. At the one I helped plan for my friend, we handed out sheets of paper with questions all about the bride and groom. Where did they meet? Stacy once compared David's head to a) a lollipop b) a football c) a Thundercat... You know silly (but true) things. Then we split the party into teams and made competing toilet paper brides (where you pick someone to play the bride and everyone else tries to make her a dress out of toilet paper). The bride-to-be chooses the winner. For prizes we had stuff like movie tickets, CDs, and candles. There was another one where someone put a mystery object in a box and we played hot potato with it. Whoever was left holding it had to put on whatever was inside (a pair of crazy underwear, a huge bra, a silly hat, that kind of thing). And then we poured champagne for everyone so the maid of honor could toast the bride. And we read all these quotes about love. At the end we handed out momentos to all the guests (candles with the date of the bridal shower on them). These are just some ideas. I found tons of ideas online. Just do a google search for bridal showers.

Why not throw a little luncheon at work, have some people chip in and get some sandwiches and a cake. You can decorate the lunch room with balloons and streamers and little puff bells. You can get the decorations at your local party stores. Since it's not her official bridal shower you really don't have to go all out.

You're a nice friend, have fun!!!
