Yes. It was courtesy of William J Clinton selling them sensitive and regulated technology (after almost $500,000 in contributions to his election campaign and the DNC) so they could launch satellites. Apparently he was too busy with his interns to realize if the technology helps launch rockets it could also help them launch missles.

And the US can do it, and has.

Sure, first you take down their satelites and then they can't see who is shooting at them and from where. Of course that isn't what this is all about! Or is it. China has the biggest army but in todays war, it is all high tech. stuff that will do the job. When that is gone we will revert back to the old fashion way of killing each other. Nice Thought.

Yes I heard it on CNN but we have had that capability since the 1980's the missile is launched from a F-15 that is in a steep climb the missile locks on and is fired. Look up US ASAT missiles and be amazed. The problem with shooting satellites is the debris fields you make. this makes it harder to put new satellites in orbit without hitting debris and makes manned space flight that much more dangerous.

The chinese language only meant to interchange their transforming into older satellite tv for pc in area. so as that they released a missile to knock-out this old satellite tv for pc, and then to launch a greater recent satellite tv for pc in its orbit. The U.S. have been changing its old satellites via the comparable approach. So what's incorrect while the chinese language makes use of this technique?. bear in techniques that the U.S. isn't the only proprietor of area. Any u . s . a . is unfastened to place and do away with their satellites in area, in the event that they have the technologies to realize this. maximum individuals of satellites at present orbiting in area belongs to the U.S.. yet, no u . s . a . complained while they have been released or removed from their orbits. What replaced into mentioned interior the information replaced into so biased isn't it?. It says partly, "below an area coverage approved via President Bush in August, usa asserts a outstanding to freedom of action in area and it will deter others from the two impeding those rights or coming up features meant to realize this." If China wanted the comparable rights, then why could the U.S. experience threatened and ***** approximately it?. If sometime, the U.S. could build a militia base on the moon, what outstanding does it is going to evade different distant places powers from doing the comparable?. As to between the above respondent's declare of chinese language tanks working over scholars. properly that's authentic sufficient. however the U.S. had its very own dirt too. bear in techniques the Kent State bloodbath in Ohio during the 70's. while the nationwide shield indiscriminately opened hearth on a crowd of scholars protesting against the Vietnam war, killing some scholars and wounding many others?.

Read it on my Comcast news site. It's very alarming to know they can now shoot down our spy satellites we use to keep an eye on rogue countries. As the article stated, it's what's made us a super power.

The questions is, how can we deny air space to other countries to keep them away from our stuff? It's not like it's a piece of land or water where there are defined boarders.

Yes they did. It was an old weather satellite.

It was the world's first downing of a satellite since the 1980s, when the former Soviet Union and the United States both destroyed space hardware in orbit.

Yep, we did the same thing in 1985. The problem is that The US military is now very dependent on satellites for intelligence and GPS guided bombs.

I heard it on the news. And who knows what our military is capable of? That is not something I would be bragging about if I could do it. I'd wait for the other side to start something and give them a nasty surprise!
