I have worked for the dept of corrections for 7 years, I attend school at night to better myself, I have been written up only once when I first came to the dept of corrections, for accidentally touching a female on her elbow. Let me explain, the dept has a policy in which female officers if they feel they have been sexually harassed can file a complaint. That complaint was done away with it, now I have a female officer stating that I made advances to her, when I have not done so. Since being here I have seen several other male officers be put under investigation, for a woman who for this reason or that feels she "can get away with it". Why is the system written where female officers can use their words to advance but a man cannot use his words to defend himself. Why is the sytem designed to allow some women to lie and get away with it. The woman in my life is very supportive, but she feels I need to sue. Your thoughts.

The main thing is, when it comes to sexual harassment is that men can't defend themselves with their words because there have been a ton of men I am sure who have lied about not sexually harassing a woman when in truth they actually did. The main thing I can suggest is that once you are off being under investigation, tranfer to another prison (if there is one closest to you) or at least try to transfer to another area of the prison.

I would do the following folks suggested do your home work for an attorney.

Also see if you can find out if this "female officer" has a history of alligations? Try to find someone that can vouch for your good moral character. Ask if you can transfer to another area in lock up away from this female officer. If she talks to you log down when, what she said and keep the dates/times into the log.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Do you have union reps? I don't know if correction officers have unions. If you do contact them first.
Shi**y situation..Is she just trying to get ahead be getting rid of all the male employees? If you are not convicted of this crime then make sure the remove that item from your employee files. They are going to have to do some serious investigating..When they find that there is nothing then it is your word against her word..Has she done this before? She seems like the type that would...If she has maybe they will realize that her accusations are unjust and let it go...Maybe she will get fired for filing a false accusation! Lets hope that happens! ..In the mean time..go get a lawyer or union rep to help!

The bad thing about sexual harrassment charges is, even if they are not true, they will follow you as if they are. After 29 years with a company, with no complaints, a disgruntled employee made an accusation against a friend of mine. He now has this charge in his permanent employee file. The thing was found to be false, and the accuser went on with his life with no black marks in their file, but the black mark will remain in my friends file. I think that an accuser should receive a mark in their file so that if they make charges on a regular basis, it can be documented. There are people out there who do this type of thing for revenge or to get people out of their way so they can advance their position.

Get the best attorney you can afford and defend yourself.
I saw a career ruined by these same type of allegations while I was a cop and the guy was a supervisor who for the first time ever held females accountable for their actions.
There was a little meeting between the women who worked for him and all of the sudden he was accused of "looking improperly" at them. No allegations of touching, date seeking, etc. and he was suspended for 1 day and ended up going to work elsewhere.
If you didn't do anything man, don't give up, fight back.

Im sorry you are having to go through this. I work at a (male) prison, and its hard enough to get not only the male officers but also inmates to respect you. But some girls think that if they bring the good men down they will somehow succeed! I really feel bad for you, get an attorney...woman are evil...some of them are anyways...good luck

Here's an important thing to consider: if she claims you only did this one time, she can't do anything about it. You can try anything once within reason and still 'get away with it', someone has to inform you that your behavior is unwelcome. Typically, real sexual harassment involves multiple confrontations and a repeated behavior, a one time elbow touch, even if intentional, is not sexual harassment.

Sick isn't it?

My brother was also falsely accused.

I suggest you consult an attorney.

The *main* thing that makes me so angry is that all of the movies we see about sexual harassment state that unless the person says "STOP" then it's not really harassment.....

But then when a female complains about it - they haven't said anything to that effect to the person she's complaining about!!

Makes me ashamed to be a female.....

Females like that cheapen sexual harrassment to the point more and more when that is called out more people doubt it.
I don't about your system in mine it is guilt until you are proven mildly guility.
It is a witch hunt and facts be damn.

Good luck I do hope it works out for you.

you yourself know whether you are "guilty" of this or not. If not, there will be no supporting evidence or statements and you should be cleared. At that point if the record is not expunged seek the guidance of your union (PBA or whoever.) Life isn't fair, ask the inmates, anybody can accuse you of anything.
