Even the NOAA (under the Bush administration) came out last summer and said global warming due to human activity is no longer debatable, it is a fact. Why do some Republican's still refuse to admit it? Ignorance? It is a scientific fact, people, not a theory.

They aren't saying that there is no global warming. They are saying that it doesn't have anything to do with what humans are doing.

One point that needs to be noticed: There has been a thermometer in the ocean at the equator for over 100 years and it has not risen or fallen even a fraction of a degree.

Another thing, some socialist said that the hole in the ozone was a cause of what we are doing. They wanted to go up there and patch it up, but that would have been a bad thing to do. It has been proven that it is a natural way of earth’s atmosphere of ventilating itself.

If you really want facts... Actually the temperature of the earth has increased less than 7/10 of 1 degree (C) from 1880 to 2005. That is an increase of about 1 degree (F) in 125 years. You may choose to believe that is global warming or you may not. Source: http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2005/2005cal_fig1.gif There are numerous charts all over the internet showing the same. Some say that 1 degree is enough to impact the global climate, others say it's not. Most proponents of global warming think the earth's temperature has risen much more than that and don't even know that it has only risen by 1 degree. But the charts do not lie as do the proponents on both sides of this issue. The average temperature in the Antarctica is 109 degrees below zero. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antarctica#Climate It seems to me 108 below (one degree warmer) is still pretty cold and not enough to melt anything. But there are those that say it will.

Back in the '70s all the hype was about global COOLING and another ice age was coming. I remember that they blamed pollution for that too. They said that all the pollution was darkening the skies and not as much sun was coming through so the earth was cooling off. It took many years to discover that they were mistaken and it was all just hype. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling So when someone says, "the sky is falling" don't believe everything you hear on either side of the issue. There are Spin Doctors galore out there.

Most of the time people will form an opinion and not really be informed about the subject with which they become so opinionated about. So it's best that you not form your opinions from other's opinions, (as in this forum) but on the facts presented. (Many do not provide any proof or links to prove their point, just their opinion.) With that said we do have a responsibility to do our part by doing whatever is within your power to keep our planet alive and well.

I hope that helps...

I'm a liberal and I'm telling you the "Man Made" part is not a complete fact. This issue has been politicized to the point its actually real doing damage to the actual solution. Let me explain. The Greenhouse Effect is based on emission of Greenhouse Gases, which come from natural and man made sources. Labeling this cause as the sole reason for global warming is the problem. Here's the proof...the sun is not the only source of global heat for our planet. The earth's core also generates heat for the planet as well. Currently, you've heard of the "Ring of Fire" in the Pacific. There has been an increase of geological activities in this region as the North America plate move toward Asia one. The movement causes additional pressures and causes volcanic activities under the Pacific Ocean floor. Volcanic activity under Pacific heats the Ocean water which warms weather conditions on land. The Oceans set weather patterns for the globe. Man has nothing to do with the movement of the Continental Plates. More research need to be done without the influence of politics.

Global warming is not a fact, it is still a theory. The weather and earth's atmosphere is a complicated science since there are multiple factors involved. Yes the earth is warming, but we can't be completely sure if it all due to human activity. Part of if may be the natural cycle of the earth. It's hard to tell because we only have a short recorded history of temperature over the years compared with the total time of earth's history.

As a side note: You may not remember this or even know this, but in the early 80's some scientist thought be might be entering another ice age. It just shows that earth's weather and atmosphere is complicated.

Because, those of us old enough to know better went through this same thing in the 70s and early 80s...except the environmental activists were telling us that humanity was pushing the earth to the brink of destruction by another ice age! We were all going to be frozen to death! We were going to have to do something extreme because it was inevitable!!!!!! It was our fault! We had to warm up the earth!

Sorry, someone has an agenda and this is the way to promote it, through mass hysteria. That is what went on in the 70s and that is what is going on now. I may have fallen for this nonsense when I was a student, but not again. The earth goes through natural cycles. We are currently nearing the end of an ice age. The current ice age will be over when the glaciers all melt. It's what happens. It's happened before and it will happen again.

We humans are extremely arrogant in trying to force the world to accommodate us or even in thinking that we have that power. We need, like every other species, to adapt or die off. It's very simple.

They are in denial, which is a coping mechanism people develop when they feel helpless. Also, many people have a motivation to deny global warming- they feel as though changing to more environmentally sound ways of doing things would cost them money and too much effort. If they can just ignore climate change or shift the blame off themselves and onto the mysterious ways of the earth, the moon, or anything else, then they don't have to change themselves.

Global changes are occuring and will happen. But it's not proven to be caused by human activity. Global changes such as mild winters occur every generation and could continue to dramatically increase over time. But it's just the way the Earth is, and it isn't specifically because of humans. And there very well could be nothing we can do about it.

Beg pardon, Global warming is a given, there has been a normal upswing due to natural solar cycles for the past 15,000 years... and it's not finished it's upswing. That it is due to human activity is total guesswork by scientists paid by liberals... Co2 normally increases after an ice age... how much more it MIGHT be increasing due to human action is, again, total guesswork. Those are FACTS, not subject to debate.

A fact can be proven. Whare is your proof. All we have seen is a trend towards warmer weather which is causing partial melting of the ice caps.

We can not prove give our limited history of tracking the weather about 200 years that the trending we are seeing is not part of a naturally occurring cycle. We know that one time Egypt was not a desert, we had ice ages also, the Earth climate has always changed periodically.

Some famous minds say that we are entering a period of global cooling. Others say that periodical climate changes on Earth happen all the time - ice age for example...Others say there is a global warming due to human influence..Who knows really?
Earth has a way of dealing with humans - that the one thing you can be certain of. When Earth gets tired of us - it makes something horrible and thousands die...In our age it might be millions...We'll have to take it one day at a time...
