It depends on the amount of damage.
There are plenty of SEVERE alcoholics who finally decide to quit drinking because of liver problems but they waited too long to make that decision and their liver is beyond repair at that point.
The best thing to do is to see your Dr and see just how severe your liver has been damaged.
A good regiment of vitamins esp.Niacin may be needed to help prompt better liver recovery.
Being a member of AA now for over 10yrs,there is alot more than just liver recovery that is needed so may I suggest that you look around and find that one AA club that best fits your needs.
I have been able to keep from picking up that next drink because of the "family" I have found in my AA Club who has given me the tools I need to acquire that 10+ yrs of not drinking.

it depends of the grade of lesion that you had before, if it was low your liver recover in a few days completely but if you already develop cirrhosis (the worse scenario) it it irreversible and you have to stop drinking to survive for a while until you get a new liver. So the best answer to your questions is congrats for stop drinking. good luck

That all depends on if there is any damage to your liver and how bad it is. It could start recovering as soon as the last drink filters through-12 hours. If you are woried about liver damage.....than you are an alcoholic. People who aren't would never, ever think to ask a question like this.

They say that the liver can rejuvenate itself. That's what I hear. Do you need to see a doctor? Or maybe you already have.
