Yes, as long as the brillo pad is not coated. I once saw a fire start with steel wool and a Dewalt drill battery touching.
Good luck. In case that doesn't work, use the stove eye.

Sure as long as it is steel in the brillo pad and still bright and not moist and the batteries have enoof charge.

It has to be steel wool. A soapy brilo pad won't work, from my understanding. It would work better with a 9 volt battery.

Yes...it's also possible to burn your house down this way. You can also use aluminum foil and a battery...as another person pointed out...9 volt batteries work best.
