Why don´t you try it? But I wonder anyways: Why do you want to feel better about the things you did? What do you expect?

Going into the confession booth is putting someone in between you and Jesus. The feelings you have are between you and God. If you have received Jesus as Lord and savior then he can hear you. You can talk to him. If you haven't opened the door of your heart to him in humble and heart felt repentance then right now, while you are alive and able, is the time to accept him. You can't go back in time and you can't go into the future. Right now is all you have. You can say a simple prayer like "Lord, I know I'm a sinner. I know that you died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sin. Lord, I open my heart to you and ask you to come in and make your home within my heart and use my life any way you want."
Today there are few pastors after God's own heart left but ask God to lead you to one, if you still feel you need to talk with someone. You do need to fellowship with like minded believers but God is gracious and merciful to those who are isolated from others like them selves and will help you if you aren't near others like you.

Go for it. However, you might want to read up on the act of contrition before you go, you'll need it. And more than likely, you'll need to know the Glory Be, Hail Mary, and Our Father (unless the priest is particularly sadistic and starts going after the Prayer to Michael the Archangel, the Hail Holy Queen, or an even more obscure prayer)

What you are looking for is to share your troubles with someone else who will be sympathetic. You need reassurance from someone you can touch at least with conversation.
The person in the confessional is just a man, and has no more contact with God than anyone else, and maybe less.
However praying to Jehovah through Jesus will bring you closer to God, and it is he who will bring you peace. He alone can do that. And yes! He does answer the prayers of the repentant and sincere.

Why ad to your sins by confessing your existing sin to a person other then the one hight priest Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the only high priest that operates between God and man today. Each person that believes he is the Son of GOD goes directly to him in prayer and he makes right our confession and prayer to the Father. And then the bllod of the lamb is applied to your sin record and the word washes your spirit. Your conscience is another issue that has to be subjected to the truth to be set free from condemnation of sin. Satan is the one who condems. Bt the knowedge of the word we overcome satan and his accusing of the breathern.
The word of the God states, All have sinned and falled short of the glory of God. So you are in good company.
The bible states is anyone comes to you saying he does not sin, that one is a lier. So all people have indeed sinned.
The bible also tells us that Jesus is faithful and just to forgive our sin at the asking. And that with God there is not particiality.
That means is he forgive peter for his sin he will forgive Sam.
The bible declares that Jesus will wash you with the word and clean you from all unrightiousness. And he indeed does that.
So the real high priest is Jesus and he unlike sinning priest of the catholic church or any other body of people on the earth. Is with out sin, Is a high priest forever and is faithful and just. He is allowed to forgive and clean from Sin. And more then that he lives to make intercession for that very reason.
Feeling better is not going to happen really it is coming to a place of real knowedge in the finished works of the cross and coming to a understanding that we all have sinned and all have fallen short of the glory of God and then putting on wisdom as to the finished works of the cross. Then you will know who is condeming you and you will one day come to understand your authority to tell satan to get out and stop accusing you. We have power over evil and over satan. We have to walk in that authority to overcome satan and sin.
May these words be writen on your heart and may you draw strength from them and call upon the name of Jesus and ask for forgivenss.

The Bible teaches that you should confess to God, not to a priest. A true confession involves grief for your sin and an attitude of repentance (turning from it). You must also make amends for your sin if you hurt someone. Take full responsibility for what you have done without blaming any one else.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

No. You do not need a go-between to talk to God. Sit down pour it out to him - but you need sincerity - not just guilt. Are you guilty enough not to do it again? If you are indeed sorry - you will find peace - but remember you do reap what you sow - so even if you get forgiveness , it won't solve the problem.

How could you ever feel guilty about going to church? It doesn't matter what faith or religion it is you seeked out the ultimate purpose for going and that was to receive spiritual healing. Don't worry about it.

Talking about it to someone may make you feel a little better at first, but the guilt will remain. only the shed blood of Christ is sufficient to actually purge sins. Your sins don't get wiped away by merely going to a confessional.

Go to any bible-based church, preferably non-denominational, and ask the pastor to pray with you. He or she will help lead you in your prayer if you don't know how to go about it. Don't wait until Sunday, just go to the office of the church and ask to speak to someone.
God bless you.
