Why do u want a crime free nation, the day u erase all signs of what u in the present day call crime or a criminal activity, sometime in the future we will face severe problems. Since there wont b much of serious crimes, ppl will start pickin on u & me 4 things that are quite legal today like pranks or consumption of alcohol and all... if u get what i say. The society will become very soft. Not that i'm saying that crime shud not b controlled, it has to b, but erasing it is impossible because human nature drives us more on seeing the negatives in everything. I live i mumbai and i see some sort of illegal activity everyday, as a good citizen all i can do is keep my self frm harm's way and offer 2 help when needed

Its not possible for India to be a crime free nation, i would like to add that, its not applicable to India only but all over the world, the reason is very simple, every person thinks in a different way, all persons cannot think in same way at the same time, hence competition is good for success.
You can reduce big crimes by being punishing strictly for their small crimes which if avoided encourages and builds a negative confidence in the criminal, hence it is neccessary to stop small crimes, else it may encourage to commit a big crime.

That is a nice question you have put forward...

To answer this question, we better ask ourselves WHY INDIA IS NOT A CRIME FREE NATION?

Off course, 90 percent answer would suggest improving the system. Let me ask everyone, have you ever reported a crime? Have you ever taken in it as your responsibility as an Indian citizen to make lawful approaches emphasized in your life?

India is not a crime free nation because, each one of us thinks that travelling without ticket is not a crime, not waering helemt is not a crime, smashing a guy who has abused you is not a crime, jumping out of a running train or a running bus is cool... and there are a hell lot of such instances. Since each one of us has this mentallity, there are a hell lot of people who think if this is normal, let us cross the limits and see.

Secondly, most of the people who commit crimes are sure that nobody would report about their crimes. One would rather love to gossip with a friend that his neighbour bashes his wife daily. Would he ever take up the responsibility to atleast anonymously report the incidence to the police or the the ever growing media in the country?

Out of a hundred crimes committed how many do you think are reported? And out of these reported crimes, how many reportings bear a positive outcome? These are the 2 factors taht donot allow our country to be a crime free zone. Let the law, the system play its role its own way.

I play my role as a responsible Indian. If I am not in a condition to provide an aid to the victim of a crime, I will atleast put my efforts for law to come into the picture. Gradually, the picture of my residential complex would one day change. It would be a crime free area. And it doesn't matter to me if the picture doesn't change... I shall not stop. Sticking on with my being an Indian attitude, I shall carry on with my duties.

Thanks to yahoo answers for latting me share my thoughts throughout. Someone, somewhere may follow these principles.

Well crime free city is no child's play it requires a combination of both economic development and social development of people and in India both are far from being achieved the no crimes has just doubled in past decade so no chance of India being called a crime free nation at least for next 50 years

The law enforcement is doing its best.I mean what nation would send a few birgades of military forces immedietly for its people in Assam. As India's top police official said the only way to stop crime is to stop it before it happens.Without insurgency India would have crime rates as low as the U.S.A.The only reason why we have insurgency is because insurgents feel opressed and want social divide.Every religion or caste or identity is to be tolerated in India. This will stop insurgents.

Crime in India is a cause of illiteracy and ignorace of people of their rights and commitments towards the nation. Once we are able to bring about this change people will start reasoning what is wrong and what is right. And once that comes about criminals will start avoiding crime and eventually we shall have a crime free nation.

When hell freezes over!

When will any nation be a crime free nation? There is corruption everywhere. There is no escape unless you plan on moving to a deserted island out in the middle of nowhere.

There is no nation now in existence, nor has there ever been one in the history of the world, that has been completely free of crime.

Police is one of the Important Element of our Democracy.
