I think that being so negative in life could get a person no where. Now your arguement is correct, a corupted world, bad people, bad influences, and a media that teaches children right and wrong. But then again its like a tree if you give it strong roots and a hard strong fundamental to grow on when its young and weak then when it grows it can contribute and potray those characteristics. Please just consider the fact that leaders like martin luther king lived only almost some 50 years ago, or look at the fact that Einstien died in 1957.. ok your wondering my point. the point is that in this problematic society good things do happen and good people can come out. It just depends on how strong those roots were.

True, the world isn't becoming a better place, but does that mean that one should stop living??
So if you don't have children in this world, what world are you planning on having them in??
Yeah, I know most people beleive that the next world will be better, but there is no 100% guaruntee that there is going to be a next world (each person is entitled to his or her own beliefs on the matter)
I, for one think that becoming a parent is one of the most unselfish and most giving thing a person can do. How are parents selfish and only thinking of them selves, when they are bringing a life into the world, and that life is soley dependent on the role of the parent. Think about it, if a person decides to bring a child into the world, you become totally dedicated as a parent. It is the parent that gets up for the midnight feeding, changes diapers and loves and nourishes the child, not the other way around.
Obviously if we made the decision to have a child, most of us have thought things through and decided that the good outweighs everything negative about "this world".
What do you mean "their benefit as a parent" it's no guarantee that your child is going to love you or care about you for that matter, but to people like me, it's worth the risk. In a perfect world, the child would get the benefit of having a loving and stable life, why deny them the chance at that?
Further more, if you don't have to deal with the children that we bring into the world, why are you so concerned?? (and no, I don't want to here about "all those people on the system" because I for one am a single mom who does every thing for my children without public assistance because when you make the decision to become a parent, that's what you do- be a parent. You make sacrafices and deal with each day as it comes)
We are the masters of our destiny, our children can have the best of the world because we make the choice to give it to them.
Could it be that your claim that "the world isn't good enough" is just your way of saying "sure, I want kids, but right now, I'm too selfish to give 100% to make sure that they get the best out of life?
Since the world is so terrible, are you doing your part to ensure that it will get better or are you one of those people who raise so much hell about the way the world is, and contribute nothing to change it........Hmm, I wonder

I am confused, the world is by no means perfect but i wouldnt say its alost cause. Shoudl we all just stop having children and let the human race die out? That is in effect what you are suggesting.
I want to have kids because i think my children have a chance of making this world a better place for the future. While some things on this planet get worse others get better.
It is not yet the end of the world so i refuse to give up hope. I was brought into this world and i am glad for it i dont resent that it isnt a utopia i love life with all of its hardships, why cant the children of the future learn to apprecatie the good things with the bad.

I hope the children of tomorrow WILL make the world a better place and while I know the world is in a bit of a mess, in many ways it is better than it was many years ago, equal rights etc.
I know my 'children' now grown, are good people to make a contribution to society for the better.
Also, all in all, I have enjoyed my life experiences and to give that opportunity to the next generation is special.
I think that the world can seem like a really crap place at times and I have thought like you in the past and probably will again in the future.....that's it you see, it's all about how you view the world at any given time.

Who's to say if you have children they will have a miserable life, if we all thought like that then there would be no Doctors, Vets, Scientist to make the next big break through in health care, no space exploration to find the next home for the human race and so on, i have two wonderful children and grandchildren and they are all happy and enjoying life to the full, but raising children is a big commitment taking up years of hard work and dedication and maybe that's what your really afraid of ??.

youre a little jaded, the world will never be perfect-it never has been. certainly it could be better-dont you realize its people that make it better that person could be you....
i know of the bad things in the world-i know where i live there are sometimes crimes and murders-and sexual offenders--these things are everywhere--are you going to go inside shut the doors and hide from the world or are you going to live your life?
i am a parent-a single mom at that. i dont know where i would get the strength to breath in without my daughter-you truly do not know what love is until you hold your child in your arms--it was an epiphany for me--oh!!! this is why i am here--to love you to care for you(thinking of my daughter)
i understand your concerns-but whether or not you have kids wont change the fact that the world is as it is--but you can make a difference send one more warrior for peace into the world, good parents make good kids and good kids become good people and good people change the world
god bless and i hope this helped

Hello I have 3 children... and here is my 2 cents worth.
First of all peoples perception of the very best is different from one to another so making the best out of life is all that one can do. Next my children are the future of the world. I make sure that I educate them, encourage them, and love them. All of these things can help mold the world. I also could not imagine my life without my children. Also I have told my children if u do not like something and u are not willing to help make changes then u are equal to the problems.

lighten up honey u must have had some really crappy parents to be so negative and you don't need history to see the world is going down the tubes you just need eyes if u don't want kids don't have any if you want kids stop sacrificing them for humanity you need to stop watching the news and maybe lighten up alittle. i don't care what anyone thinks and i agree with alot of what u said both here and the first question but your not gonna get the answer your looking for it doesn't exist and you can't stop reproduction i have 2 of my own kids and 3 foster kids so maybe sence you care about kids so much you ought to do something about the ones that are already here and need so much but have nothing because people like you who talk alot but in the end take no action..p.s. i am pro choice, hate bush, celebrities, and the news and you should repost the question as what can we do to help the unwanted kids that are right here in america

If want your children to have the best, then you have to give them the best. Go to college and work your butt off. Get a good paying job that will make you financially stable. Find out how to be the best parent you can be (take classes or read books). You can't change the world, well, you can't change it by yourself. So help out. Find out what you can do to help change the world. What you can't fix in the outside world, you sure can fix any problems you may have in your own home.

I thought like you until I was 32. Then met someone who made me realise that between us we could make somewhere nice for a child to grow up. I agree the world can be an awful place - but you don't have to subject your child (or yourself) to only the dark side - please don't think this is denial - I acknowledge what goes on can be evil - however our judgement can be clouded because that kind of bad news sells newspapers - so the good stuff is never reported. Everywhere there are good deeds being done - by parents to their kids, kids to their parents, friends and relatives to each other, and strangers to other strangers. There are millions of charities and volunteer workers, etc - it took me a long time to see the amount of goodness in this world. This is the world that I choose to expose my child to - so she has a balanced view of her world..
